Mu Yang caught sight of a streak of light flashing by.

“Huh? What time is it now, and there are still people fighting? I should go take a look.”

With that, Mu Yang leapt up onto a tree, pushing off forcefully to jump from one branch to another.

A few minutes later, Mu Yang arrived at his destination, only to see Huo Yuhao fleeing in a pitiful state with the aid of a level-two flying soul tool, pursued by a pair of soul masters.

Glancing at the level-eight flying soul tool inside his own spatial ring, Mu Yang sighed.

As for Huo Yuhao, Mu Yang felt neither warmth nor animosity toward him, but if Huo Yuhao were ever to harm those close to Mu Yang, or Mu Yang himself, enmity would be swift and certain.

“Oh well, I suppose I’ll lend a hand.”

With a flick of his finger, a wisp of poisonous gas drifted from Mu Yang’s body. Guided by his fingertip, the poison slipped into one of the soul masters. In less than three seconds, the man was dead, poisoned. The pursuers, shocked at the sudden death of their companion, assumed Huo Yuhao had used some hidden technique to kill him.

But with one less competitor, the reward would only grow, so they pressed on regardless.

Soon, the wisp of poison emerged from the dead soul master, having absorbed some of his energy and grown slightly stronger. It floated toward the next soul master. Though he moved quickly, he was still overtaken. Using the same trick, the poison killed all the soul masters who had been in pursuit.

Huo Yuhao, now safe, stopped and addressed the drifting poison, “Thank you, senior, for saving my life.”

Mu Yang, perfectly composed until then, wore a strange expression upon hearing these words.

Senior?

He decided to have a bit of fun with Huo Yuhao. With another flick of his finger, the poison mist shifted, forming words in the air.

“Trade.”

“Trade? Senior, aren’t you a teacher from Shrek Academy?”

“No. If you want to keep your life, offer something in exchange.”

Reading the words forming in the poison mist, Huo Yuhao was stunned. He hadn’t expected a senior to demand something from him, or threaten his life in exchange.

“Yuhao, don’t worry,” Tianmeng’s voice sounded in his mind. “The Ultimate Ice can suppress nearly any poison. A wisp like this is nothing. If you provoke him and he attacks, there are a few powerful presences approaching from afar—most likely teachers from Shrek are on their way.”

Reassured, Yuhao addressed the poison mist, “Surely a senior like you wouldn’t care for the trifles I possess.”

Mu Yang realized that Huo Yuhao indeed had nothing of value to offer him, but simply letting him go felt unsatisfying.

With another flick of his finger, the poison split in two—one part drifting back toward Mu Yang, the other slipping directly into Huo Yuhao’s body.

The words appeared: “Since you cannot repay me now, you’ll repay me in the future.”

As the wisp of poison entered Huo Yuhao, Tianmeng immediately seized control, summoning all of the Ultimate Ice in Yuhao’s body in an attempt to freeze the toxin.

The poison was briefly impeded by the Ultimate Ice’s chill—indeed, it was cold, but Huo Yuhao was not yet able to wield its full power, so the temperature was only slightly colder than an icy spring.

There was no way such a chill could stop the poison. Lacking Mu Yang’s direct command, the toxin did not activate; instead, it found a comfortable spot within Yuhao’s body and settled there.

Huo Yuhao—or rather, Tianmeng, whose face was now ashen—managed a wry smile and then sprinted off in the direction of Shrek Academy…
