Chapter 117: A Flight Through Time
After a phoenix cry rang out, a fiery phoenix appeared above the Sun Spring. It was the representative of the sunlit side of the Douluo Continent—the Solar Phoenix.
“I have no grudge against you. Why are you trying to kill me?” The moment the Solar Phoenix appeared, it stared at Mu Yang and spoke.
“Greed,” Mu Yang replied with a single word.
“Then let us see whether you have the ability to swallow me whole.”
With that, the Solar Phoenix spat out a mouthful of phoenix flame, a fire unique to the phoenix clan. As the embodiment of the sunlit side of the Douluo Continent, the Solar Phoenix’s flames were even more powerful. This single breath of fire was already capable of burning a Rank-Two God.
The scorching phoenix flames engulfed Mu Yang. He did not attempt to block them. With his undying body, these flames could not kill him; they would only make him stronger.
Mu Yang calmly reached for the hilt of the Hundred Resentments, gathering his strength. He could not simply draw the blade. The momentary feigned death might give Tang San time to react. He had to end the battle quickly.
Seeing that his phoenix flames had no effect, the Solar Phoenix spat out several chunks of stone. Each one was surrounded by phoenix flames of tremendous heat, streaking through the air like meteors.
At that instant, Mu Yang finished gathering his strength. He drew the Hundred Resentments in a flash and swept it forward. It appeared that he had made only one slash, but in truth, he had exhausted all his power in that moment and unleashed hundreds of strikes, instantly chopping the enormous Solar Phoenix into pieces.
Mu Yang called this technique “Stored Slash.” Any blade technique that involved gathering power was given the same name. Stored Slash focused on three things: concealment, accumulation, and eruption.
Concealment meant that the enemy could not sense the slightest hint of danger. Accumulation meant locking the gathered power and sense of danger within the blade. Eruption meant releasing all the accumulated energy in a single instant. The form of that eruption could vary. It might produce only one slash, or it might unleash hundreds, as Mu Yang had just done. Everything depended on the circumstances.
Mu Yang grabbed the Solar Phoenix’s corpse and stored it inside his spatial ring. In the same instant, a phantom appeared before him. It was a manifestation of Tang San’s divine power within the Douluo Continent.
“Traveler from another world, you have crossed the line. I originally intended to let you develop freely, since I too came here from another world. But you have gone too far. The Douluo Continent cannot exist without its yin and yang aspects. By killing the Yin Dragon and the Solar Phoenix, you could be said to have taken the place of those two aspects and allowed the Douluo Continent to continue functioning. Therefore, I have no choice but to seal you here until the continent gives birth to new yin and yang aspects.”
Tang San’s voice held not the slightest trace of panic.
Mu Yang, however, was not flustered either. The system had already informed him that he could teleport.
“Three…”
Massive stone pillars appeared around Tang San’s phantom.
“Two…”
Tang San swung the trident in his hand toward Mu Yang, and several enormous stone pillars shot toward him.
“One…”
Just as the massive pillars reached Mu Yang, he teleported away.
The pillars slammed into the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
“Did he escape? You will come back eventually. As long as I temporarily suspend the Douluo Continent’s operations, there will be no expenditure.”
“Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission: Solar Phoenix.
“Reward: A Space Reflecting the Mind.”
Mu Yang received his reward.
It was a ruined space. This was the reflection of Mu Yang’s mind.
Mu Yang arrived in a modern city. Suddenly, violent tremors shook the surroundings. Everyone on the roads fled in the same direction.
A shelter, Mu Yang guessed.
“What kind of world is this? I need to find some landmark object quickly.”
Several young girls flew toward Mu Yang from the distance. In an instant, Mu Yang realized what kind of world this was…
