Chapter 108: Dark-Gold Terrorclaw Bear
The Manager began absorbing the spirit ring. Whenever a soul beast that had lived for ten thousand years or more died, anyone attempting to absorb its spirit ring would have to endure a spiritual shock. Under normal circumstances, only a Soul King could withstand such an impact. Although the Manager currently possessed only one spirit ring, Mu Yang believed he could endure it—not merely because his innate soul power was at rank thirty, but also because he had already endured collapse, suffering, and agonizing inner choices in the ghoul world. He had survived all of those trials, proving that he possessed the strength to withstand a spiritual shock.
Sure enough, over the course of half an hour, although the Manager’s forehead became covered in dense beads of sweat, he managed to endure it.
A strange glimmer flashed through the Snow Empress’s eyes as she watched him. A ten-thousand-year spirit ring as his second ring—such a thing was probably unprecedented on the Douluo Continent. And yet, despite having only one ring, he had managed to endure the spiritual shock. Still, the Snow Empress continued to feel that the Manager was not quite human. Then again, she had no need to concern herself with that. She was not human either, but an Ice Sky Snow Lady.
“Manager, what spirit skill did you gain this time? I’m guessing it has something to do with increasing the hardness and power of your wing blades,” Mu Yang said.
“That’s correct. My second spirit skill hardens my wing blades and increases their firing speed. It can also transform part of the wing blades into crystal rock, whose hardness will continue to increase along with my cultivation,” the Manager replied.
“For your third spirit ring, you should give your wing blades some special ability. Let’s go find a ten-thousand-year Soaring Feather Serpent,” Mu Yang said.
The Soaring Feather Serpent was an extremely rare soul beast. It possessed a portion of the Soaring Serpent’s bloodline, though it was far from pure. Nevertheless, it carried an extraordinarily potent venom, ranking among the most fearsome toxins found in soul beasts. Its greatest weakness was its eyes, but the eyelids of a Soaring Feather Serpent were exceptionally well-defended and could even withstand blades and swords.
Mu Yang’s plan was to have the serpent’s venom imbued into the Manager’s wings. That way, even if the crystals he fired merely wounded an enemy, the venom entering the victim’s body would still weaken their abilities.
Unfortunately, Mu Yang was not so lucky this time. They failed to encounter a Soaring Feather Serpent and instead came across a nine-thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear. Aside from lacking any long-range abilities, it was immensely powerful in every other respect. Still, a nine-thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear could at most contend with a twenty-thousand-year soul beast, so killing it was an easy task for Mu Yang and the others.
The Manager’s crystal-rock wing blades shot into the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear’s body, instantly transforming into thin, sharp spikes that pierced its organs. One spike alone would indeed have posed little threat to the bear—but the Manager had fired far more than one!
After dozens of crystal-rock wing blades had pierced its body, the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear could no longer hold out and collapsed to the ground. It was ultimately finished off with a single needle.
Before they killed the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear, however, it had already swept the surrounding area clear, leaving behind a wide open space. This alone demonstrated just how powerful it was.
“Snow Empress, we have food now. Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear meat—we’re in for a feast,” Mu Yang said as he looked at her.
With that, he took out a small knife and began stripping away the bear’s hide. Perhaps because it was his first time doing such a thing, he made numerous mistakes. The Manager and the Snow Empress soon joined in to help him.
But once again, good fortune had crossed paths with Mu Yang: a torso spirit bone from the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear...
