Chapter Fifty-Six: The Title Has Been Quarantined
After returning to his dormitory, Mu Yang found that the Snow Empress had not yet come back, so he began his cultivation alone. The light spheres in Mu Yang’s spirit sea had not been replaced for a long time, and the soul power he gained now was almost negligible.
Once again, Mu Yang forcefully shoved seventy-two small light globes into his spirit sea. By the time he had finished replacing them all, daylight had already arrived. The Snow Empress opened the door and saw Mu Yang cultivating. She sighed softly. Although Mu Yang was someone she had “picked up,” he had already helped her so much.
The immortal herb of the Ice-Fire Yin-Yang Eyes had saved her life when soul masters pursued her, and his independent cultivation space had offered her countless benefits. There were too many things to count.
The Snow Empress wanted to gently touch Mu Yang’s head, but just as her hand was about to make contact, Mu Yang suddenly opened his eyes.
“Snow Empress! You’re back. I bought you a soul tool. Though it’s a bit low-level, it should be useful to you for some time.” With that, he handed her the Ice-Snow Necklace.
She instinctively took the necklace, and the soul power within it merged with hers, amplifying each of her attacks.
“Little Mu, what about you?” she asked.
“I’ve already got something that suits me. No need to worry about me,” Mu Yang replied with a smile.
“Alright then,” the Snow Empress sighed.
Mu Yang picked up Little Black and headed outside. On the way, he encountered Elder Xuan, who said, “The participants for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Battle Tournament have been selected. Gather at the academy gates early tomorrow morning. We’ll head to Star Luo City for the competition. Don’t forget.”
“Meeting tomorrow isn’t a problem, but could I bring my sister along? I’m a bit concerned about her,” Mu Yang said.
“You mean Mu Xue? She’s already one of the reserve members for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Battle Tournament. And your sister’s control over ice and snow is nearly perfect—she’s a rare prodigy,” Elder Xuan praised.
“Alright.”
Within the academy, Mu Yang feared the Snow Empress might expose her identity. Though the Snow Empress was powerful enough to avoid death, escaping trouble would still be difficult. Besides, Elder Mu was still an Extreme Douluo despite his serious injuries.
…
At dawn, as a thin mist cloaked the gates of Shrek Academy, a group of people walked out slowly. Judging from their ages, they should be students of Shrek Academy, but none wore uniforms. Some dressed plainly, others in luxurious garments—each unique.
Among them, Mu Yang and the Snow Empress stood out the most. The two nine-year-olds had arrived at the academy with only the clothes they wore, and had bought some suitable attire just the night before.
Moreover, to avoid being recognized, Mu Yang wore a mysterious helmet.
Elder Xuan clicked his tongue in wonder and asked where the helmet came from. Of course, Mu Yang couldn’t reveal it was a reward from the system, so he simply answered that he had found it.
Elder Xuan understood from this reply that Mu Yang didn’t want to answer, so he stopped asking.
Jiang Nan Nan was at her wit’s end with this persistent pest, strictly forbidding him from approaching within a meter and not allowing him to speak or annoy her. After Xu Sanshi nodded like a chicken pecking at rice, she ignored him.
Time passed…
Watching Huo Yuhao and the others training diligently, Xu Sanshi suddenly had an idea. Grinning, he said, “Nan Nan, look how hard Yuhao and the others are working. Why don’t we practice together? My thick skin and sturdy body are perfect for your wrestling moves. And if you want to practice grappling, I can handle that, too.” His eager expression clearly implored Jiang Nan Nan: throw me, please, throw me!
Jiang Nan Nan turned her head coldly and said, “It’d be best if you just stayed far away from me.”
Xu Sanshi’s face fell, and he said with anguish, “Nan Nan, what will it take for you to understand my heart? I’m truly sincere. What must I do for you to agree to be with me?”
Jiang Nan Nan glared at him, her exquisite face tinged with a blush that could be from embarrassment or anger. “No matter what, I will never be with a spoiled brat like you. Even if a beast has feelings, it’s still a beast at heart. Stop pestering me. And when you address me, use my full name—Jiang Nan Nan.”
With those words, she abruptly turned away and quickened her pace, widening the distance between herself and Xu Sanshi.
Xu Sanshi covered his face with his hands and cried out, “Let me die, let me die, let me die.”
“Are you alright, senior?” Mu Yang went to comfort Xu Sanshi.
Xu Sanshi quickly switched demeanor and said to Mu Yang, “Junior, which class are you from? You’ve been wearing that helmet since the beginning—can you take it off and let us see?”
The others, long curious about what was under Mu Yang’s helmet, gathered around. It seemed they wouldn’t let Mu Yang leave unless he showed his face.
Mu Yang had never encountered such a situation before; he looked to Elder Xuan for help, but Elder Xuan merely shook his head, signaling Mu Yang to handle it himself.
