Chapter 93: A Power Beyond Human Limits
The young man did not know that his two mentors had already departed. He remained fully immersed in the process of drawing in the power of the sun, moon, and stars. His body seemed like a bottomless abyss, ravenously devouring that force. Yet the power of the celestial bodies belonged to the might of heaven and earth. He was only flesh and blood; he could not possibly absorb it all.
Gradually, his body swelled at a speed visible to the naked eye. The cries he gave out grew ever more agonized. Fortunately, by then most of the power of the sun, moon, and stars had already been absorbed.
With his eyes shut, his body stretched in a broad cross, arms and legs spread wide as he floated in the void. A formidable aura continually radiated from him. After quite some time, he suddenly opened his eyes, and two tangible beams of light shot forth, causing the surrounding void to tremble.
From beginning to end, he said not a word, only blinking those eyes now wholly transformed into a brilliant gold. Then he swept a hand, and a longsword appeared instantly in his grasp. In that very moment, his figure vanished from where he had been.
Boom!
Not far away, a violent explosion rang out. There, the vanished young man now stood in midair, sword in hand, slashing and sweeping again and again. Every move, every strike, carried a force as though it could destroy heaven and earth.
As that earthshaking blast sounded, an even more terrifying aura of destruction erupted at once, with the young man at its center, spreading relentlessly in all directions. Seeing this, the others nearby blanched in fear, leaping away to what they believed to be safer ground.
Boom, boom, boom.
Just after they retreated, a string of explosions erupted at once, and the sky became a chaos of flying sand, rolling soil, and debris.
Awe. That was all they could feel before them: profound awe. In their understanding, power of this magnitude was no longer something a human being could display.
But the matter was far from over. In the air, the young man suddenly lifted his sword and pointed it straight toward the heavens. At once, the blade burst forth with a blinding radiance, a brilliance that swept over a mountain ridge behind the villa.
While the others were still stunned, the ground suddenly began to shake violently. The mountain wrapped in that immense light also started to tremble, then slowly sank downward, and before long it vanished from its original position.
The world had gone mad. Yes, the world had gone mad. Was this really the power a human being should possess?
Witnessing this scene, the others were so shocked they could not speak. At that very moment, his figure suddenly appeared before them, and he said indifferently, “How about it? Isn’t I enough to be dazzling now?”
At his words, the others stiffly nodded.
Seeing their reaction, he burst into unrestrained laughter. A fierce wind swept past, sending his long hair whipping around his shoulders. At this moment, he looked incomparably exhilarated. This long-lost strength had not graced him for far too long. And with his cultivation restored, his confidence for the journey to the Land of Cherry Blossoms rose with it.
Inside the presidential suite of a five-star hotel in Phoenix City, a middle-aged man sat on the sofa with a dark, stormy expression. Beside him stood four men in blue robes. Their faces were unremarkable, yet the aura they exuded made one’s heart tighten in fear.
“Patriarch, the young man’s aura has appeared. It seems he has not left the Cloud Peak Villa,” said one of the blue-robed men, his voice utterly flat and devoid of emotion.
The middle-aged man’s expression turned cold. “Hmph. Since we know where he is, kill him directly. Avenge my son!”
With that, he sprang to his feet, and in the blink of an eye his figure disappeared from the room.
The four blue-robed men also gradually faded from where they stood. In an instant, the vast room fell silent.
As for the young man and the others halfway up Cloud Peak, they naturally knew nothing of this. The others were still basking in the joy of his newfound strength.
But then, while he too was laughing heartily, he abruptly cut off his laughter. Two streaks of cold light flashed through his eyes, and he turned sharply to stare into the void not far away.
The others were startled by his sudden change in demeanor and were just about to speak when they sensed several powerful auras rapidly approaching.
“It seems there are more fools coming to die,” he said coldly.
Then he turned to the four and said, “Go back to the villa first. Leave this to me. This is a good chance to see exactly what kind of power I can unleash now.”
Without hesitation, the four of them nodded and darted toward the villa’s direction. In a few swift bounds, they vanished into the dense forest.
“Young man!”
Before the figures had even drawn near, their overbearing aura had already arrived, followed by a furious roar.
In the blink of an eye, five figures appeared before him. He looked them over with a tilt of his head, studying them with curiosity.
The moment they appeared, he had already locked onto their auras, and he knew at once that they were cultivators, and powerful ones at that.
Among them, the middle-aged man in the lead had cultivation that had likely reached the Deity Transformation stage. As for the four behind him, even the weakest possessed the strength of the Unity stage.
Such a force, even in the cultivation world, was enough to support an entire clan. What puzzled him, however, was that aside from the Enforcement Hall, he did not seem to have any quarrel with any other cultivation family.
“Was it you who killed my son, Meng Tong?” the middle-aged man asked darkly, staring at him with an expression that seemed eager to devour him whole.
Only then did he understand. So these fierce-looking men were from Meng Tong’s family. No wonder their killing intent was so intense.
“So you are from the Meng family. No wonder. Since you’re Meng Tong’s father, then you must be the head of the Meng family. Hmm, Deity Transformation stage. Not bad at all,” he said lightly, showing no trace of panic merely because they had come for vengeance.
Seeing how casually he behaved, the middle-aged man was instantly enraged. He was indeed the head of the Meng family, Meng Chao. The four men behind him were the Meng family’s protectors: the four brothers Meng Chang, Meng Guang, Meng Xiao, and Meng Qiu.
