Chapter 42: Ruthless Interrogation
Mingzhu KTV, Fengcheng Avenue.
This was Jiang Qin’s stronghold in Fengcheng. Just the two massive stone elephants at the entrance gave an impression of overwhelming grandeur.
The KTV was spread across three floors. The first floor was a reception hall, where a line of elegant women in cheongsams stood on either side of the entrance, welcoming guests as they arrived. The second floor comprised a series of lavishly decorated private rooms, but as it was only early evening, business was still slow.
It was the third floor, however, that served as Jiang Qin’s headquarters.
At this moment, a taxi pulled up quietly at the curb. As the door opened, Xiao Yu stepped out slowly. It was almost laughable—though Xiao Yu held the distinguished title of War King, he didn’t know how to drive. The main reason he’d brought Tai Sui along was, in truth, simply to have someone to drive him.
Jiang Qin, who had been waiting at the entrance for Xiao Yu’s arrival, hurried forward the moment he saw him. Under the astonished gazes of the beautiful hostesses, Jiang Qin bowed deeply to Xiao Yu.
“Boss, you’re finally here. That man from Sakura Country has a mouth of steel. No matter what we do, he won’t say a word. It’s giving me a headache,” Jiang Qin said awkwardly, scratching his head.
“Take me to him,” Xiao Yu replied coolly.
Following Jiang Qin inside, Xiao Yu entered an office on the third floor.
The moment Xiao Yu stepped inside, he saw a man from Sakura Country, tightly bound and glaring fiercely at Tai Sui. The man looked utterly disheveled—his suit was in tatters, his hair was a wild mess, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
“Bastard! If you have the guts, kill me! Lord Kuroki will avenge me!” the man spat blood and glared hatefully at Tai Sui, giving the impression of a warrior ready for death.
As Xiao Yu entered, Tai Sui immediately turned and bowed respectfully. The man from Sakura Country also looked over at Xiao Yu.
“Xiao Yu!” the man cried in shock as he recognized his face, a flicker of indescribable excitement appearing.
“A man from Sakura Country? Tell me, who sent you to gather intelligence on me?” Xiao Yu’s voice was icy as he glanced at the man, but the man simply averted his gaze, refusing to answer.
Tai Sui’s eyes darkened as he saw this. In a flash, he appeared before the man, raised his right foot, and stomped viciously on the man’s knee.
A sickening crack sounded.
“Ah!” The man howled in agony, clutching his leg and rolling on the floor. Beads of sweat poured down his face, which had turned ghastly pale.
Jiang Qin’s men looked on in terror. They were no strangers to violence, but Tai Sui’s ruthlessness still chilled them to the core.
“My patience is limited. You’d best not waste my time. My brother here knows plenty of ways to make you talk—it’s just a matter of how much you can endure,” Xiao Yu said coldly, unmoved by the man’s suffering.
At his words, the man’s body began to tremble violently. He knew very well who Xiao Yu was. If he refused to talk, he’d be subjected to inhuman torture.
Yet, as he was about to speak, he hesitated. The man who had sent him to Yanxia to gather intelligence was a figure of immense influence in Sakura Country. Even if Xiao Yu spared him, that person would never let him live.
Seeing the man’s continued silence, Tai Sui offered a cruel smile, squatted down in front of him, and said, “Ever heard of dislocating the muscles and bones? Let’s see how much you can endure.”
Without waiting for a response, Tai Sui seized the man's limbs and began to twist and knead them mercilessly. The man’s howls of pain echoed through the room.
Within moments, the man fainted from the agony. But Tai Sui was not one to show mercy. He hadn’t earned the title War Demon for nothing.
He walked over to the side table, picked up a kettle, and poured scalding water over the man’s head.
The burning water jolted the man awake. Ignoring the pain in his body, he clutched his head and rolled desperately on the floor.
“This is only the beginning. The real fun is yet to come,” Tai Sui grinned, his lips curling into a bloodthirsty smile as he tossed aside the kettle and looked darkly at the man.
Such scenes no longer disturbed Xiao Yu, but the others in the room felt a cold chill run down their spines. Their eyes were filled with terror as they looked at Tai Sui. They had not expected this man, whom Jiang Qin held in such high esteem, to be such a ruthless demon.
Under their gaze, Tai Sui squatted down again and calmly placed his hands on the man, working over him with renewed intensity. Yet this time, to everyone’s surprise, the man did not scream. He clenched his teeth tightly and glared fiercely at Tai Sui.
“How interesting,” Tai Sui muttered, a trace of astonishment in his voice. He hadn’t expected the man’s willpower to be so strong, enduring such excruciating pain without a sound.
“Big brother, this guy really is tight-lipped. Perhaps you should give it a try?” Tai Sui said, losing interest and withdrawing his hands.
“Hmph! It doesn’t matter who you send—I won’t give you a single word!” the man sneered.
“Tough words for a dead man. Soon enough, I’ll see how long you can keep that bravado,” Tai Sui replied coldly.
“Jiang Qin, take your men and leave. What happens next will be bloody; I don’t think you’ll stomach it,” Tai Sui said with a sinister grin. He picked up a fruit knife from the table and walked toward the man.
Jiang Qin quickly waved his men out, and soon the spacious office was empty save for Xiao Yu, Tai Sui, Jiang Qin, and the terrified man from Sakura Country.
“What are you planning to do? If you think you can threaten me with my life, you’re wasting your time. We from Sakura Country uphold the highest samurai spirit—we will never yield so easily!” the man sneered at Tai Sui, defiant.
“Kill you? No, no, you misunderstand. How could I let you die before you’ve told us something useful? This little knife isn’t for killing—it’s for slicing the flesh from your bones.”
“Tell me, have you ever heard of the death by a thousand cuts?”
