At such an unremarkable remark, several members of the Law Enforcement Hall immediately frowned in displeasure.

“I didn’t expect you to be better informed than these ordinary folks—so you know we’re from the Law Enforcement Hall. In that case, you must also know why we’re here,” the leading man said as he squeezed to the front, running a hand through his close-cropped hair in a manner that was both flamboyant and utterly ridiculous.

“Of course,” Xiao Yu replied calmly.

“Good. Since you admit it so readily, come with us. Spare us the trouble of forcing you,” the leader said with a laugh, surprised at Xiao Yu’s straightforwardness.

“I won’t leave with you. Nor could you take me if I refused.”

The leader’s smile froze as Xiao Yu’s voice sounded again, cool and indifferent.

The onlookers listened to their exchange in confusion, unable to fathom what this ‘Law Enforcement Hall’ was, or why these people demanded that Xiao Yu accompany them. Only Ye Shihan, whom Xiao Yu had shielded behind him, understood the situation with perfect clarity: these people had come for Xiao Yu because of the murder of Li Quan.

Xiao Yu was her husband; she could not simply stand by and watch him be taken away. Though she knew the truth, she chose to feign ignorance, stepping around to stand protectively in front of him.

“Honored sirs, may I inquire what crime my husband has committed?” Ye Shihan asked, her voice composed, her face unflushed.

“Hmph, I’m sure you know very well what he’s done. Don’t try to tell me you’re unaware of the Li family’s annihilation!” the leader retorted coldly.

At those words, realization dawned on the spectators. The Li family had vanished from Phoenix City’s stage without a sound today; some among them had already heard the news. Yet none had known who was responsible for the Li family’s destruction.

Ye Shihan, too, was shaken by the accusation. She knew about the deaths of Li Minghao and Li Quan, but she had not heard that the entire Li family had been exterminated. She turned to Xiao Yu, disbelief written plainly on her face.

“Did you really wipe out the whole Li family?” she asked, suspicion in her voice.

Xiao Yu smiled faintly. “Today is a day of celebration; let us not speak of such things.” Then, turning to the members of the Law Enforcement Hall, he said, “Since you’re here for me, come with me. I would rather not discuss these matters here.”

With that, Xiao Yu strode toward the exit, Tai Sui glancing at the others before following.

Seeing Xiao Yu act so, the leader hesitated, then, gritting his teeth, signaled his men to follow him.

He didn’t believe that someone who knew they were from the Law Enforcement Hall would dare attack them. Even if he did, they had the advantage in numbers.

As the group followed Xiao Yu out, the guests looked on in astonishment. But to them, this was but a minor incident—after all, it had nothing to do with them. In no time, the hall returned to its former bustle, only Ye Shihan sitting in a daze.

“Don’t worry, Miss Ye. I don’t think Mr. Xiao is an ordinary man—he’ll be fine,” Lin Xue’er said softly, coming to comfort her.

Ye Shihan only nodded, still lost in thought over the Li family’s annihilation. She had never imagined Xiao Yu would go so far—not only killing Li Minghao and Li Quan, but destroying the entire Li clan. She did not understand what could have changed him, to make him treat human lives so lightly, nor what the Li family had done to provoke his wrath.

In a private room on the hotel’s second floor, Xiao Yu sat quietly while the Law Enforcement Hall’s members waited. Soon, they all entered.

“Xiao Yu, what’s the meaning of this? Do you really think the Law Enforcement Hall will let you go?” the leader said coldly.

“Of course. You wouldn’t dare, nor are you capable of taking my elder brother,” Tai Sui stepped forward, eyeing them with a mocking smile.

“There’s no one the Law Enforcement Hall doesn’t dare arrest! Especially not you!”

The dismissive attitude of Xiao Yu and Tai Sui had thoroughly provoked the leader. With a wave of his hand, he shouted, “Take them! Bring both back to the branch hall!”

At his command, the others tensed, releasing waves of pressure in an attempt to subdue Xiao Yu and Tai Sui.

To their shock, however, the two remained utterly unfazed, meeting their glare with calm indifference.

The leader’s heart sank. There was only one explanation for their immunity to such pressure: both men’s strength surpassed theirs. Cold sweat beaded on his brow.

Each of them had passed rigorous trials to join the Law Enforcement Hall as branch enforcers. Even the weakest among them had reached the seventh level of Foundation Establishment—a level comparable to the seventh heaven of the Martial Path.

“This one’s tough! Use your full strength!” the leader barked, his aura flaring as the others followed suit, the pressure in the room intensifying.

Tai Sui grinned sheepishly, then pulled a token from his pocket and thrust it before the leader, asking with a mocking air, “Do you recognize this?”

The leader stared at the token—initially puzzled, then his face changed drastically. Though only a branch enforcer, his family held some standing in the cultivation world, and he knew the token’s significance.

“This—this is the Heavenly Descent Token! How could you possibly have this? Are you one of the Twelve Celestials?” the leader stammered in terror.

Tai Sui flashed a toothy grin. “You may call me Tai Sui.”

With that, he pocketed the token and returned to stand ramrod straight behind Xiao Yu.

“Tai Sui—Tai Sui! My family once told me that the foremost of the Twelve Celestials was called Tai Sui. He followed the War King on southern campaigns, undefeated, sweeping the battlefield, once leading two thousand soldiers to annihilate ten thousand elite foes. You are the war general Tai Sui?” the leader shuddered, scalp prickling, staring at Tai Sui with wide, fearful eyes. Tai Sui only smiled, saying nothing.

Now the leader’s gaze turned to Xiao Yu, studying him carefully. From the moment they had arrived, this man had remained unruffled, utterly composed, knowing full well who they were, yet showing no fear. And with Tai Sui, one of the Twelve Celestials, treating him with such deference… The realization struck; the leader’s face drained of color, his body trembling.

“Could—could it be that you are the invincible leader of the Twelve Celestials—the War King himself?” he blurted out.

Xiao Yu smiled faintly and rose to his feet. “Regarding the Li family’s demise, I suggest your Law Enforcement Hall investigate thoroughly. Over the years, the Li family’s position in Phoenix City was built on countless shady dealings—an inquiry will make that clear. As the leader of the Twelve Celestials, it is my duty to safeguard the nation. I will not tolerate such vermin. Go back and tell your branch master: the Li family was destroyed by me, Xiao Yu!”

A commanding aura radiated from Xiao Yu, so oppressive that the enforcers struggled to breathe. They could only stare in terror, not daring to utter a sound.

“Yes, yes, War King. I failed to recognize greatness—this was only routine business. Please, War King, be magnanimous and forgive us,” the leader stammered, head bowed in fear.

He glanced at Xiao Yu’s calm expression and continued, “Actually, this matter might involve the Ye family. While we were investigating the Li family, a young man claiming to be from the Ye family approached us, saying you and your wife might be connected to the case.”

“Oh? Go on,” Xiao Yu said, interest piqued. He was curious to see which member of the Ye family had stabbed him in the back.

“The man told us that Li Minghao, the Li family’s eldest son, harbored improper intentions toward your wife and even hired people to cause you trouble. But after that, Li Minghao seemed to vanish from the face of the earth. That’s when we began to suspect you,” the leader confessed everything he knew.

“I understand. Remember, once you leave here, do not mention my identity,” Xiao Yu said coolly, heading for the door with Tai Sui close behind.
