Fu Yingying had no knowledge of the ranking system among martial artists. Sensing the same powerful aura from Xiao Yu as she had from her own master, she immediately assumed he was a cultivator at the Fusion stage.

“I had intended to spare your lives, but you insist on courting death. Very well, today, you shall perish alongside the Wang family,” Xiao Yu said coldly, raising his right hand. Before the stunned eyes of those before him, he pressed his hand downward. Instantly, a wave of intense gravity swept over them. Even Fu Yingying, who was suspended mid-air, plummeted rapidly under the crushing force. It was only thanks to her skills that she managed to land without utter disgrace.

“Who are you, really? With such strength, you cannot be a nameless figure in the martial world!” Fu Yingying struggled to her feet, channeling her own vital energy to resist the crushing pressure, her expression grave as she addressed Xiao Yu. The power he displayed far exceeded that of her master, who as the sect leader, was already at the late Fusion stage, only a step away from entering the Divine Transformation realm.

“You are not worthy to know my name,” Xiao Yu replied indifferently. His right hand shifted from an open palm to a tightly clenched fist. The pressure grew unbearable for Fu Yingying—she collapsed to the ground, unable to withstand it any longer.

“Taishui, leave no one of the Wang family alive!” Xiao Yu ordered.

“Yes!” Taishui responded coolly, striding swiftly toward Wang Bolin. In moments, he was standing before his target, while Wang Bo and the others could only watch in terror, none able to rise.

“Any last words?” Taishui asked coldly, staring at the kneeling Wang Bolin.

Hearing Taishui’s icy tone, Wang Bolin tried desperately to raise his head. After a long struggle, he gave up and let it hang.

“Do you dare kill me? I am the head of the most powerful family in Phoenix City, and my son is a formidable and mysterious cultivator. If you kill me, are you not afraid of retribution?”

Though Wang Bolin was gripped by fear, he did not show it, forcing himself to appear calm.

Taishui, seeing this man so full of confidence on the brink of death, burst out laughing. He crouched down, looking Wang Bolin in the eye. “Do you not understand? Everything you brag about means nothing to my brother or to me. It’s all just empty talk.”

He pointed at Xiao Yu, his face full of reverence. “Do you know who he is? Do you really think he’s the useless man everyone claims? Have you heard of the War King who protects the nation? He’s standing right before your eyes.”

Wang Bolin stared at Xiao Yu, who had subdued everyone alone, trembling uncontrollably in disbelief.

“W-War King! You say he’s the War King? Impossible!”

Wang Bolin could not accept the truth. Xiao Yu, once branded a good-for-nothing, had vanished for five years, only to return as the revered War King. To anyone, it was utterly inconceivable.

“We’ve wasted enough words on you. Now, rest in peace!” Taishui declared, striking Wang Bolin on the head. Blood spurted from Wang Bolin’s mouth; his gaze turned vacant and he collapsed lifelessly.

The Wang family, with its centuries-old legacy, met its end for harboring thoughts they never should have had about Xiao Yu’s woman.

“Aah!”

Wang Bo, witnessing his father’s brutal death, roared in fury and tried to rise. But an invisible force pinned him down, making resistance impossible.

“Stop shouting. None of the Wang family will leave here alive. Your turn is next,” Taishui sneered, stepping toward Wang Bo.

Just as Taishui raised his hand to deliver the fatal blow, a powerful aura surged from the sky. Xiao Yu sensed it immediately and looked up.

A figure, robed in white, streaked towards them at lightning speed, arriving overhead in seconds. The newcomer rode upon a flying sword—a man appearing to be in his fifties, though to Xiao Yu’s eyes, his true age was likely much greater. Only cultivators at the Golden Core stage or higher could travel by flying sword.

The man descended from the sky, dispelling the sword beneath his feet.

“What has happened here? Why are there traces of a cultivator’s battle?” the man demanded as soon as he landed.

At this, Xiao Yu withdrew his aura and calmly asked, “Are you from the Hall of Enforcement?”

“Indeed. I am Liu Qingfeng, master of the Phoenix City branch of the Hall of Enforcement. Who are you? Are you responsible for this?” Liu Qingfeng’s voice was cold as he addressed Xiao Yu.

The newcomer was none other than Liu Qingfeng, the current head of the Phoenix City Hall of Enforcement, and a mighty cultivator at the late Nascent Soul stage.

“The Hall of Enforcement certainly moves quickly,” Xiao Yu replied with a faint smile.

At that moment, the roar of engines sounded outside, followed by the approach of many footsteps. Xiao Yu turned—it was Liu Mo from the Celestial Drive Division, along with his subordinates.

“Lord War King, are you unharmed?” Liu Mo asked with a respectful bow, genuine concern in his tone.

“You think these people could harm my brother?” Taishui chimed in coolly. Clearly, with Liu Qingfeng present, he had refrained from killing Wang Bo. Though Wang Bo belonged to the Wang family, he was now also considered part of the cultivators’ world. With Liu Qingfeng here, intervention was inevitable. The Hall of Enforcement’s influence was vast—enough that even the fearless Twelve Celestials would not provoke them lightly.

“Liu Mo, what did you just call him?” Liu Qingfeng, as head of a parallel law-enforcement body in Phoenix City, naturally recognized Liu Mo. Liu Mo’s form of address for Xiao Yu had not escaped his notice.

“Liu Qingfeng, has the main Hall not informed you of Lord War King’s return? The man beside me is the one who, alone, drove back seven god-level experts from the enemy nation—Lord War King himself. And this is Lord Taishui of the Twelve Celestials,” Liu Mo introduced them both.

“War King? You are the leader of the Twelve Celestials, the War King Xiao Yu?” Liu Qingfeng was shocked—not by Xiao Yu’s title, but by his youth.

“What business brings the Hall of Enforcement here?” Xiao Yu did not exchange pleasantries, but asked plainly.

“With such a fierce battle occurring here, of course we must investigate. But you, Lord War King—what do you mean by this? Slaughtering mortals openly! Are you unaware of the rules of the martial world?” Liu Qingfeng was clearly displeased with Xiao Yu’s attitude. After all, he was the branch master of the Hall of Enforcement, yet Xiao Yu addressed him with a tone of interrogation.

“Whether or not I remember the rules is no concern of yours. Since you’re here, these cultivators are yours to deal with. As for the Wang family, if you have questions, ask Liu Mo,” Xiao Yu replied calmly. He did not regard Liu Qingfeng as worthy of his attention. Had it been the main Hall’s master himself, he might have been more courteous; but Liu Qingfeng, he did not consider qualified.

“Liu Mo, I leave the rest to you. After tomorrow, I do not want to see any member of the Wang family in Phoenix City. I trust the evidence you’ve gathered is more than enough to ensure their disappearance.”

“The mastermind behind this incident has already met my justice. As for the rest, you decide their fates as you see fit.”

With that, Xiao Yu walked away as if nothing had happened, Taishui hurrying to follow. Seeing this, Liu Qingfeng tried to intercept him, but Liu Mo stopped him, shaking his head. “I will give you an explanation once I’ve dealt with matters here.”

Liu Qingfeng snorted coldly, then turned to Fu Yingying and the others, taking them back to the Hall of Enforcement.

Having left the Wang residence, Xiao Yu and Taishui returned to the hospital. Inside, Ye Xuemei was tending to Ye Shihan, while Yao Bugui stood guard outside.

“You certainly caused quite a scene. Even the Hall of Enforcement got involved,” Yao Bugui teased as Xiao Yu and Taishui entered.

“No choice—ran into a few troublesome pests,” Taishui replied with a grin.

“How is Shihan? When will she wake?” Xiao Yu asked, peering through the glass of the door.

“Are you doubting my medical skills?” Yao Bugui huffed, glaring at him. “Relax. After two rounds of the Supreme Eighteen Needles, her internal injuries are nearly healed. In three days at most, your wife will wake.”

“I owe you a favor,” Xiao Yu said, finally at ease. He knew Yao Bugui’s abilities well—the man had saved his life more than ten times.

“Forget it. If you’re really grateful, shouldn’t you treat me to a meal?” Yao Bugui shot him a look.

“Of course! We’ll go now. Not only will I treat you to a meal, but I’ll find you that thing you’ve always wanted,” Xiao Yu promised with a smile.

“Now that’s more like it.” A broad grin spread across Yao Bugui’s face. He cared little for the meal itself; what mattered to him was the promised item.
