Chapter 41: The First Appearance of the Sakura Nation People
Time slipped by in a flash; three days had already passed in the blink of an eye.
In those three days, the news of Wang Bolin, patriarch of the Wang family—the foremost clan of Feng City—meeting his death swept through the city like a hurricane. Alongside the tragedy, scandalous secrets about the Wang family's enterprises were exposed by relevant authorities. Several companies, including some listed ones, were shut down in quick succession.
This revelation sent ripples of unease through those who knew the truth, especially the heads of the remaining three major families. Upon learning that Wang Bolin was slain at the Wang manor by Xiao Yu and his men, they all feared Xiao Yu might come seeking retribution.
Throughout these three days, Xiao Yu stayed close by Ye Shihan's side, guarding her with unwavering attention. Even Yao Bugui, who watched from nearby, couldn't help but remark in awe: who would have thought the fierce King of War, so formidable on the battlefield, would reveal such tender care?
It was on the afternoon of the third day that Ye Shihan’s tightly shut eyes trembled slightly. Slowly, she opened them. Having been unconscious for so long, the sudden burst of sunlight made her eyes ache, and she let out a low groan.
Standing by the window with his hands clasped behind his back, Xiao Yu heard her sound and turned around hurriedly. Seeing Ye Shihan awaken, he smiled broadly and quickly moved to her side.
“You’re awake. Is there anywhere you still feel discomfort?” Xiao Yu asked, holding Ye Shihan’s hand with concern written on his face.
“Did I sleep for a long time?” Ye Shihan frowned slightly, her gaze fixed intently on Xiao Yu, not blinking.
“Why are you staring at me like that? Do I have flowers on my face?” Xiao Yu laughed softly, teasing her.
“Let me look at you properly,” Ye Shihan replied, her expression serious. “You know, when that truck crashed into me, my greatest fear wasn’t for my own safety—it was that I’d never see you again.”
Xiao Yu was taken aback by her words. He opened his arms and drew Ye Shihan into his embrace, soothing her gently, “It’s all over now. The one who hurt you has been found, and I’ve avenged you.”
“Was it someone from the Four Families?” Ye Shihan asked. She wasn’t naïve; the Four Families had joined forces to attack the Ye Group, only to fail spectacularly. Then she was targeted herself. Clearly, this was retribution from the Four Families.
“It was the Wang family. Don’t worry. From now on, Feng City will never again see the Wang family,” Xiao Yu said, patting her back calmly.
“What! Did you destroy the Wang family, too? Xiao Yu, I know you have an extraordinary identity, but aren’t you afraid the authorities will take notice of what you’ve been doing?” Ye Shihan voiced her concern.
“Don’t worry. I only killed Wang Bolin. As for the rest of the Wang family, their crimes are enough to keep them locked away for life. You needn’t worry about these things. Your most important task now is to recover, or there’ll be no one to manage Wang family’s remaining assets,” Xiao Yu replied with a smile.
“Thank you, Xiao Yu,” Ye Shihan said sincerely.
Becoming one of Feng City’s top families had always been the Ye family’s dream, hers included. That was why she’d worked relentlessly during Xiao Yu’s five-year absence. Yet, no matter how hard they tried, the Ye family could never break through to the next level. The main reason was the existence of the Four Families.
The Four Families had been rooted in Feng City for centuries, controlling all its resources. They would never tolerate the rise of another first-class family.
But now, things had changed—the Wang family was gone. This was the Ye family’s chance! If they could acquire the Wang family’s assets, and with the development project with Huayi Group, the Ye family might become a super-elite clan, surpassing the other three families.
Ye Shihan’s heart surged with excitement. She hadn’t expected Xiao Yu, in such a short time after his return, to bring so many blessings to the Ye family. The prospect of elevating her family thrilled her beyond measure.
“Don’t celebrate too soon. The Wang family is gone, but the other three are formidable. I suspect they’re already preparing to buy up Wang family’s assets. If you don’t recover quickly, you might not even get a taste,” Xiao Yu said, helping Ye Shihan lie down and covering her with a blanket.
Just then, the shrill sound of a phone interrupted them. Xiao Yu frowned, took out his phone, and declined the call without looking. But soon the phone rang again. This time, Xiao Yu checked the caller ID.
“Answer it. It might be something important,” Ye Shihan said gently.
Xiao Yu smiled gratefully, went to the window, and took the call.
“Big brother, where are you right now?” came the voice of Taishui as soon as the call connected.
“At the hospital. What’s wrong?” Xiao Yu replied, sensing the seriousness in Taishui’s tone.
“Come to Jiang Qin’s place. They’ve caught a man from Sakura Country—he’s been asking around about you all over Feng City,” Taishui said urgently.
Xiao Yu’s brow furrowed. He had instructed Jiang Qin to be vigilant about such matters, and it hadn’t been long before trouble had surfaced.
He knew that his retirement due to injury couldn’t be kept from his old enemies. What surprised him was how quickly they had come searching.
After hanging up, Xiao Yu returned to Ye Shihan, apologizing, “I’m sorry. Something important has come up; I won’t be able to stay with you.”
“It’s alright. Go on, I’ll have Xue Mei keep me company,” Ye Shihan replied, understanding.
Xiao Yu nodded, then leaned in to kiss her forehead. With a mysterious smile, he whispered, “When I’ve dealt with this, let’s hold another wedding. The last one was too rushed—you never got to wear your wedding dress. This time, I’ll host the most lavish wedding Feng City has ever seen, just for the woman I love most.”
Ye Shihan’s face blossomed with happiness, and she nodded enthusiastically. Xiao Yu wanted to say more, but Ye Shihan urged him to go, not to keep Taishui waiting.
Reluctantly, Xiao Yu bid her farewell. Leaving the hospital, his demeanor transformed; a cold, murderous aura radiated from him as he strode toward Jiang Qin’s stronghold.
