Chapter Forty-Nine: The King of a Different Surname
Standing before Xiao Ye was a tall, strikingly beautiful girl. With just a single glance, Xu Jiaojiao immediately sensed the vast gulf between herself and this newcomer.
Black Hawk’s disdainful gaze swept over Xu Jiaojiao, a cold smirk curling at her lips.
“A gaudy wench like you isn’t worthy of anyone’s sympathy,” she sneered.
“What did you say!”
Xu Jiaojiao’s face twisted with rage. She rushed to Principal Chen Hua’s side, clutched his arm, and shouted toward Xiao Ye and his companions, “Principal Chen, look at these people! They dared to hit someone right in front of you! Just look—their faces are all swollen from the beating!”
Her coquettish tone made Chen Hua’s eyes flash with fury. Shen Long, who had once known Xu Jiaojiao as a very different person, shuddered with discomfort.
“Humph! You even dare to assault a teacher at our Experimental Second High? You must have a death wish!” Chen Hua barked. “Security! Security, get over here at once!”
The four security guards stationed at the school’s gate hurried over, and the commotion quickly drew the attention of others nearby.
“You woman, get down on your knees right now! If you don’t, I’ll have them arrest you!” Xu Jiaojiao shouted furiously. The four guards brandished their batons, encircling Black Hawk and cutting off all routes of escape.
A cold gleam flashed in Black Hawk’s eyes. Her hand, white and smooth as mutton-fat jade, rose as if she was about to act. But just then, a quiet, composed voice sounded behind her.
“Black Hawk,”
Xiao Ye looked at her calmly, his lips barely moving. “Don’t go overboard. A simple lesson will suffice.”
“Yes!”
With Xiao Ye’s command, Black Hawk’s smile deepened. The order from King Xiao was clear—not to take lives. That was simple enough. She would just break a few limbs.
“You lot, move! Arrest her at once!” Xu Jiaojiao shrieked, pointing at Black Hawk with fury.
Under her orders, the four guards had no choice but to advance. But the moment they neared Black Hawk, their bodies were sent flying through the air!
Cries of pain escaped their mouths as they tumbled to the ground, writhing in agony. Just as Black Hawk had intended, she’d only broken their arms and legs, sparing their lives.
This display terrified the other teachers present—a woman so beautiful and delicate could be so ruthless! Chen Hua and Xu Jiaojiao both turned deathly pale in an instant.
“Enough! How dare you cause such a disturbance at our Experimental Second High and create such a scandal?” Chen Hua thundered. “I don’t care who you are, but don’t even think about letting this girl enroll here. I’m expelling her right now!”
He pointed at Shen Long’s sister, his voice livid.
“What!”
Shen Long stiffened, his face blanching with dread. He’d gone to great lengths to arrange his sister’s transfer with Xiao Ye’s help, and now, before she’d even passed through the gates, she was being expelled by the principal!
“Brother, what do we do now?”
Tears welled up in Shen Long’s sister’s eyes as she heard her fate. Their family had struggled so hard to return to a normal life, only for things to fall apart like this.
“Humph! You lot think you can get her admitted? Dream on!”
Chen Hua’s smile turned cruel and cold. Anyone who dared cross him would pay the price.
But at that moment, a shadow filled with menace emerged from behind Black Hawk.
“Hm? King Xiao?”
The moment Xiao Ye stepped forward, Black Hawk’s expression darkened. She saw the utter lack of emotion on his face and knew he was truly angered.
The next instant, Xiao Ye appeared before Chen Hua and, before everyone’s eyes, delivered a fierce slap!
Bang!
With a thunderous sound, several teeth flew from Chen Hua’s mouth. He crashed to the ground, clutching his face in terror.
“My face!”
Chen Hua trembled as he held his mouth. He could feel the chill of the wind seeping through the gaps in his teeth, intensifying the pain.
“You bastard, you dare hit me? I’ll see you dead!”
Chen Hua’s eyes blazed red with fury. In Jianghai City, no one had ever dared treat him this way.
But then Xiao Ye’s icy gaze fell upon him, and in an instant, Chen Hua felt as though he’d been plunged into a frozen abyss.
“Many have wanted me dead. Every last one of them is already dead,” Xiao Ye said calmly.
There was no falsehood in his words. On the battlefield, he’d been the enemy’s number one target; in Jianghai City, the four great families all sought to destroy him. Yet in the end, it was always those who challenged him who perished.
“You’re finished—all of you! How dare you strike our principal? You’ll all go to jail for this!”
Xu Jiaojiao rushed to help Chen Hua up. Instead of anger, a twisted smile played across her lips. With Chen Hua’s considerable connections, one phone call was all it would take to have Xiao Ye and his friends thrown behind bars.
Just then, the wail of sirens rose from not far off, near Experimental Second High.
Xu Jiaojiao’s face lit up with delight, smugness oozing from her as she spoke to Black Hawk.
“It must be Principal Chen’s people. You’re all done for!”
A car rolled to a stop, and two men stepped out. They were Chen Hua’s trusted aides, both possessing even greater influence than he did. One of them, in fact, was Chen Hua’s own cousin.
It was these connections that had allowed Chen Hua to become principal of the Second High.
“Cousin, you’ve come at just the right time! They barged onto campus and assaulted me, as well as others from our school!”
Chen Hua shouted at his cousin with near hysteria, his eyes wild with desperation. With his cousin here, he was sure these troublemakers would be dealt with thoroughly.
Yet, surprisingly, Xiao Ye and his companions remained calm. Chen Hua’s furious outburst barely registered with them.
But then something unexpected happened. The two men who had just exited the car ignored Chen Hua completely, instead turning their gaze toward Xiao Ye.
“Cousin, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and detain them!”
Seeing the two men staring blankly at Xiao Ye, Chen Hua’s anger flared further.
In that moment, his cousin suddenly turned, eyes blazing with fury, and delivered a resounding slap to Chen Hua’s already swollen face.
“My face!”
Another slap, and Chen Hua’s face was now swollen beyond recognition. But what truly shocked him was why his own cousin would strike him!
His cousin’s face was flushed with rage as he roared at Chen Hua,
“You fool! This man is the King with a Different Surname!”
“What!”
In an instant, shock swept across the faces of Chen Hua and the others.
“The King with a Different Surname? Where?”
Chen Hua stammered in disbelief.
Yet his cousin and the other man walked straight up to Xiao Ye and, in front of everyone, knelt down on one knee.
“We pay our respects to the King with a Different Surname!”
“He is the King with a Different Surname!”
In that instant, the faces of Chen Hua and those around him turned ashen with terror.
