Chapter Thirty: The Revenge of the Four Wolves Gang
Chapter Thirty: The Four Wolves Gang's Revenge
Xu Yun burst into hearty laughter. "I think this little problem won't trouble Qin Wan'er at all."
"That's right!" Guo Guo clapped her tiny hands. "I'm going to find Sister Wan'er! Hmm, if she helps me enroll in school, I'll buy underwear for her too! Hee hee!"
Only then did Guo Guo remember the main purpose for their outing. "Quick, let's go buy underwear for Mom! Sister Qiu Yan, you should get one too. After all, Dad's treating us. Should we buy from Robella or Sindell?"
Xu Yun nearly cried at her words. No wonder she was the beloved daughter of Feng Qiansui—she really knew her brands! She casually named the world's top labels, even the cheapest sets costing thousands!
"Guo Guo, do I look like a rich man to you?" Xu Yun was on the verge of tears.
"Come on, Dad, stop pretending," Guo Guo pouted. "So stingy, yet you want to win over Mom and Sister Qiu Yan? If you can't even do this, I won't help you."
Qiu Yan paid no heed to Guo Guo's words, clearly accustomed to ignoring her.
"Robella sets are so expensive," Xu Yun blinked pitifully.
Guo Guo shrugged dismissively. "Dad, do you really want to force me to reveal that you have a World Bank Platinum Card in your wallet?"
Qiu Yan was stunned, and so was Xu Yun. This little girl knew far too much.
Qiu Yan couldn't help but reevaluate Xu Yun. A World Bank Platinum Card was not something just anyone could get. Feng Qiansui himself had been denied one despite his wealth. Simply put, money alone couldn't secure that card.
Just how powerful was Xu Yun's background?
"I do have a card, but unfortunately, there's no money on it. What now?" Xu Yun didn't bother to hide anything.
Guo Guo's eyes gleamed mischievously. "Dad, are you waiting for me to mention the card's overdraft limit?"
"Fine, you're amazing, I admit defeat!" Xu Yun was thoroughly impressed. Still, buying a few pieces of underwear wouldn't require him to max out his platinum card—what a disgrace that would be.
Determined to make the most of this opportunity, Guo Guo selected five pieces: one for Qiu Yan, one for Qin Wan'er, two for her mother Ruan Qingshuang, and a cute pink one for herself, declaring that she'd wear it once she matured in a few years.
Xu Yun was speechless. Did she really need to choose a size 36G for herself? This girl was certainly confident about her future figure.
The female clerks at the lingerie shop couldn't suppress their giggles. This little girl was delightful wherever she went, but her father was left embarrassed.
Qiu Yan, fearing what Guo Guo might say next, made no attempt to refuse, allowing the little mischief-maker to have her way.
Xu Yun's heart ached as he swiped his card. Five pieces of underwear, weighing less than three pounds of fabric, cost him nearly thirty thousand. The world was truly mad!
As soon as the trio left the Robella flagship store, Xu Yun's phone rang. It was Qin Wan'er. He answered without hesitation, "What is it? Have you been kidnapped again?"
"Where did you go? The medicinal restaurant was smashed up!" Qin Wan'er had no time for jokes.
She was baffled when the station received the report. With Xu Yun and Qiu Yan guarding the place, how could a bunch of thugs cause trouble?
She quickly guessed that Xu Yun and the others must have gone out, so she called him immediately.
Xu Yun's bright smile faded. "What did you say?"
"I'm coming right now! No matter where you are, get back immediately!" Qin Wan'er hung up and jumped into the police car, urging the driver, Xiao Wu, "Hurry!"
"What's wrong, Dad?" Guo Guo asked, seeing his grim expression.
Xu Yun put down his phone, eyes narrowing, cold sparks flashing.
If any of his brothers were present, they'd know the boss was furious—truly furious.
"The restaurant's in trouble?" Qiu Yan guessed instantly.
Xu Yun nodded. "I'm heading back. Watch over Guo Guo."
With that, Xu Yun dashed off at such speed that he stunned several passersby. Wearing flip-flops, he ran as fast as Bolt! A street photographer tried to record him, but by the time the camera started, he was already gone.
Guo Guo cheered excitedly, "Super dad, indeed!"
Qiu Yan wasn't crazy enough to race after him with Guo Guo in tow. She hailed a cab at the roadside. She didn't need to hurry—Xu Yun would handle it. After all, those responsible for the vandalism were surely just low-level thugs.
When Xu Yun arrived at the medicinal restaurant, he found only chaos. The glass doors and windows were shattered, fragments littering the floor. All twenty-plus tables were overturned and broken, the ceiling lights smashed, the front desk reduced to an unrecognizable wreck.
The restaurant was Ruan Qingshuang's pride—her hope, built through countless hardships. Xu Yun understood how much it meant to her. To her, it was everything.
Ruan Qingshuang stood among the ruins, her gaze firm despite the devastation. But a woman is still a woman. When she saw Xu Yun, all her strength melted into two streams of tears. "Xu Yun..."
Xu Yun said nothing more, simply stepping forward to embrace her. Ruan Qingshuang had never felt such warmth. Xu Yun's arms gave her endless courage and a sense of safety.
Before meeting Xu Yun, such a blow might have shattered her confidence. But now, even alone, she believed she could endure—and she had so many people who cared about her.
Qin Wan'er arrived with her team, unable to bear the sight.
"Where are those people?" Qin Wan'er asked, heartbroken by Ruan Qingshuang's pain.
Xu Yun's cold gaze swept over the devastated restaurant. "They're gone."
Qin Wan'er was anxious but had nowhere to vent. "Where were you when this happened? Why weren't you in the restaurant instead of wandering off?"
Xu Yun regretted leaving. He hadn't expected the Four Wolves Gang to retaliate so quickly.
Seeing several police officers behind Qin Wan'er joking and sharing cigarettes, Xu Yun's anger surged. He sneered, "The security in Hedong City is thanks to you."
"Watch your mouth!" Xiao Wu snapped, shoving Xu Yun hard.
That shove surprised Xiao Wu. He used considerable force, but Xu Yun didn't budge.
"Did I say anything wrong?" Xu Yun's courtesy to Qin Wan'er was only due to special circumstances; he had no patience for the other officers.
Xiao Wu swallowed, unable to retort. But Xu Fan and the rest of the officers were displeased and surrounded Xu Yun.
Xu Yun merely sneered. He trusted Qin Wan'er wouldn't let them act recklessly.
"Say one more word, and we'll take you to the station! See how you like it!" Xu Fan shouted angrily. The others glared fiercely.
"Enough!" Qin Wan'er turned and rebuked them. "Impressive, aren't you? If you're so tough, go and catch the ones who smashed the place! Don't show off here! I called you to handle the case, not to act tough! If you want to shout, do it at the thugs!"
Her words stunned the officers into silence.
Even Ruan Qingshuang was startled by Qin Wan'er's anger. She wanted to comfort her, but didn't know how to begin.
Alas, that's just her nature. Everyone in the restaurant had sharp edges—even Guo Guo. Ruan Qingshuang was the only gentle soul. No, the only gentle woman.
Xu Yun said no more. Qin Wan'er had earned his respect—an upright and impartial officer.
"Xu Yun, I'll give Sister Qingshuang an explanation! I won't let the criminals get away!" Qin Wan'er spoke with righteous determination, proud of the badge she wore.
With her promise, Xu Yun felt justified in his faith in her. He replied calmly, "No need to investigate—the Four Wolves Gang did it. The first troublemaker here, Bald Wei, was taken away by you. Chen Sanpao from the Bowen Street casino was arrested by you, too. They're all with the Four Wolves Gang. Their boss is Wang Shunxi."
Xu Yun's words caused a stir among the officers behind Qin Wan'er. The Four Wolves Gang! Though notorious, the police had always been powerless against them.
Take the casino incident—Wang Shunxi easily found a scapegoat, while he continued flaunting his title as a Tibetan mastiff expert.
"Good! I'll catch them!" Qin Wan'er snorted, turned, and waved her hand. "Let's go!"
Xu Yun watched Qin Wan'er and her team leave, but his anger remained.
He knew the police worked by the book, which would restrict Qin Wan'er's actions. This matter would ultimately fall to him.
Ruan Qingshuang saw his dark expression and gently patted his shoulder. "It's done. We can't change it. Thankfully, we have some money now. We'll renovate, and maybe business will be even better."
Seeing Ruan Qingshuang so optimistic, Xu Yun relaxed. Her strength was far greater than he had imagined.
Qiu Yan and Guo Guo finally returned by taxi. Guo Guo burst into tears at the sight of the wrecked restaurant, crying for her mother and diving into Ruan Qingshuang's arms.
"Was this the work of those thugs?" Qiu Yan's eyes flashed with murderous intent. Ruan Qingshuang was Guo Guo's benefactor, and thus Qiu Yan's own. Anyone who bullied her was disrespecting Qiu Yan herself.
"A bunch of rotten fish and shrimp," Xu Yun replied lightly, though his eyes still glinted coldly.
Amid the calm, Qiu Yan sensed the hidden storm. It seemed that offending Xu Yun would bring even more terrifying consequences than crossing her, the Fox Lord.
