Chapter Thirty-Four: Destroying the Four Wolves Gang

In an instant, blades flashed and swords gleamed. Qiangzi raised his mountain-splitting saber, its edge tearing through flesh, the spray of blood making him fight all the fiercer! The ringing clash of steel sounded like a chaotic symphony...

Qiu Yan’s expression was as calm as drifting clouds. Wherever her ghostly figure passed, enemies fell in agony! No one could even see how she struck. In a single moment, the one hundred thirty-odd members of the Four Wolves Gang fell into utter disarray, stumbling backward in panic!

Xu Yun cradled Guoguo in his arms. With Qiu Yan present, there was no need for him to intervene.

Chen Sanpao and Wei Laosi, seeing the situation turn dire, immediately turned tail and fled. Their mouths had been emptied of teeth by Xu Yun’s blows, and at this rate, they would be the ones suffering soon enough. Having just been discharged from the hospital, they certainly didn’t want to end up back there with Erhei!

Wang Shunxi, seeing his two most capable henchmen run off, was seized by terror himself, wishing he could crawl into a crack in the earth to hide!

“Daddy, that guy is trying to escape,” Guoguo pointed at Wang Shunxi and shouted.

Xu Yun smiled faintly. “How about you chase him together with Daddy?”

“No, I’ve got something important to do!” Guoguo shook her head. “Put me down.”

“Uh… What could you possibly have to do?” Xu Yun was utterly confused.

Guoguo impatiently waved her delicate little hand. “A woman’s mind is not for a man to guess. No matter how much you try, you’ll never figure it out.”

Xu Yun looked awkward—women… sigh, this little demon was truly a born trickster!

Indeed, Xu Yun could never figure out what was going on in Guoguo’s head.

“Daddy, what are you standing there for? He’s already run off.” Guoguo pursed her lips in the direction Wang Shunxi had disappeared. “Aren’t you going to chase him?”

Xu Yun had no time to wonder what mysterious business Guoguo was up to. He simply dashed off after Wang Shunxi. This man had dealings with the underworld figure known as Wildcat. Xu Yun certainly couldn’t let such a villain slip away!

Wang Shunxi fled for his life, the barking of Tibetan mastiffs ringing in his ears. In his panic, he couldn’t find Chen Sanpao or Wei Laosi. All he could think about was escape!

Suddenly, a cold voice sounded behind him. “Did you really think you could get away?”

Wang Shunxi’s psychological defenses completely collapsed! The sheer pressure drove him to the brink of madness. He stopped abruptly, abandoning his flight to the back door and instead charged straight for his secret storeroom at the dog farm!

Xu Yun paused, then walked slowly after Wang Shunxi.

As Xu Yun advanced, Wang Shunxi fumbled frantically with his keys, hastily unlocking the heavy security door of the storeroom behind him. Without a second thought, he darted inside, trembling hands slamming the door shut and bolting it from within!

Having run with thugs since age five, Wang Shunxi was now forty, yet this was the first time he truly tasted fear. Never before had anyone threatened him with death like this—this was his first time!

The moment he saw that woman slice off the head of a Tibetan mastiff, terror gripped his heart.

Everyone has a weakness. Those who know no fear simply haven’t faced true horror. Wang Shunxi pressed his back hard against the thick security door, heart pounding like thunder!

This storeroom was his last line of defense. On the walls hung firearms he had acquired from black markets all over the country: pistols, hunting rifles, even a Type 95 assault rifle!

Driven to desperation, Wang Shunxi finally snapped. He snatched up a rifled hunting gun and quickly loaded it!

This hunting gun was his weapon of choice for executing mad Tibetan mastiffs—its power was formidable, usually killing with a single shot!

Bang!

The heavy security door exploded inward under a rush of force, smashing Wang Shunxi’s back and sending his face crashing into the wall. Blood gushed from his nose on the spot.

Xu Yun stepped into the storeroom, unable to help but sigh, “Damn, you’ve got quite a collection here. This alone could get you eight or ten years.”

“Xu Yun! I’ll kill you today!!” Wang Shunxi turned and glared at him, raising the hunting gun—his most familiar weapon—and aiming straight at Xu Yun’s head without hesitation!

But he was a step too slow. Xu Yun had already slipped to his side, grabbing the barrel of the gun. Wang Shunxi panicked, trying to wrench it free.

Xu Yun released the gun with a casual air. “Shouldn’t I be the one saying that to you?”

Wang Shunxi tried to aim again, but to his horror, saw the gun barrel had been crushed flat by Xu Yun’s grip!

With a thud, Wang Shunxi dropped to his knees.

His heart was ashen, no ripples left, terror washing over him in waves. “Please, spare me! I’ll give you money! A hundred thousand? Two hundred thousand? Five hundred thousand! However much you want, I’ll give it to you!”

Suddenly, Qiangzi’s shout rang out from outside: “Brother Yun! The police are here! Run!!”

The dog farm erupted into chaos. Both Qiangzi’s men and the Four Wolves Gang scattered like rabbits before a hawk.

“Nobody move! Freeze! Or I’ll shoot!”

Xu Yun frowned. That voice sounded awfully familiar. Damn, could it be Qin Wan’er?

Qiu Yan stepped lightly to the storeroom door and called in, “Qin Wan’er is here. She’s alone.”

“Heh, what a brainless bombshell,” Xu Yun muttered. Fortunately, he was here today. Otherwise, Qin Wan’er coming alone would have ended up being fed to the dogs by Wang Shunxi.

Wang Shunxi’s eyes flashed. He seized the opportunity to grab a pistol! But as he racked the slide, Xu Yun’s leg shot out like a shadow, slamming into his face. Wang Shunxi’s features blossomed like a dye shop, and he collapsed into darkness.

Xu Yun grinned. Qin Wan’er’s timing was perfect—someone else could take the credit.

“Where’s Guoguo?” Qiu Yan suddenly asked.

Xu Yun froze, eyes wide. “She’s not with you? I left her outside just now.”

Qiu Yan’s face changed instantly. She had assumed Guoguo was with Xu Yun and hadn’t paid close attention. Now Guoguo was nowhere to be found!

At this moment, Qin Wan’er, who hadn’t managed to catch anyone, stormed into the back yard in a rage. She immediately spotted Xu Yun and Qiu Yan. “What are you doing here?!”

Qiu Yan had no time for her, hurrying to the front yard to look for Guoguo.

“Hey! Where are you going?” Qin Wan’er was annoyed at being ignored.

“You’ve got great timing, Deputy Chief. Out on your own without a single officer in tow?” Xu Yun was exasperated. Sometimes Qin Wan’er really acted without thinking—too impulsive, maybe because she was so young.

Qin Wan’er didn’t bother to hide the truth. “Yes, I’m alone. I needed evidence of Wang Shunxi’s crimes to arrest him.”

Xu Yun pointed at the storeroom. “Well, now you have it. Illegal firearms, and plenty of them.”

Only then did Qin Wan’er take in the sight: almost twenty guns of various types hung on the wall like a display! With the crackdown on illegal firearms so strict, Wang Shunxi had truly been playing with fire.

“I even caught your man for you. No need to be embarrassed,” Xu Yun said. “As usual, the credit is yours. I’d rather not get tangled up with the police.”

Qin Wan’er was stunned. “How on earth did you do all this?”

Xu Yun waved his hand. “I’ll explain later. Guoguo is missing—I have to find her.”

“What?” Qin Wan’er was even more speechless. “Why did you bring a child along in the first place!?”

Xu Yun shot her a look. “You think I wanted to?”

Qin Wan’er had no time to worry about arrests. She ran with Xu Yun to the front yard to meet up with Qiu Yan. The vast dog farm was silent except for the barking of dogs. Only the three of them remained.

“Haven’t found her yet?” Xu Yun seemed relaxed.

Qiu Yan trembled. If anything happened to Guoguo, she would never forgive Xu Yun!

Suddenly, Xu Yun looked up and shouted, “Guoguo!!”

He’d had a bad feeling earlier when Guoguo said she had things to do. Now she had vanished, clearly for a reason. Xu Yun wasn’t too worried, though—with her quick wits, she’d have called for help if she were in any real danger.

“What are you yelling for? You’ll scare people to death!” From the second floor of the office building came Guoguo’s childish, disgruntled voice.

Damn! Xu Yun was speechless. Hiding in silence nearly scared Qiu Yan to death!

Hearing Guoguo’s voice, Qiu Yan’s anger melted instantly into tenderness. “Guoguo, what were you doing? Come down.”

“Guoguo, you nearly scared us to death, you know!” Qin Wan’er’s heart had been in her throat.

Thump-thump-thump—Guoguo dashed down the stairs, beaming. “Sister Wan’er, why are you here?”

“I came to rescue you—uh, Guoguo, why is your belly so round?” Qin Wan’er was startled.

“It’s nothing!” Guoguo stuck out her tongue and hid behind Qiu Yan, as if dodging something.

Xu Yun frowned. Guoguo was acting strangely. Even with her puffy skirt, her belly shouldn’t be that much bigger. Had she snuck something to eat upstairs?

“When are we going home?” Guoguo seemed anxious to leave.

“Qin Wan’er, I’ll leave things here to you. Heh, don’t forget me when you get your promotion,” Xu Yun grinned. “We’ll wait for you at the medicinal restaurant.”

Qiu Yan had already turned to leave. Guoguo tiptoed behind her, glancing back with a giggle. “See you tonight, Sister Wan’er!”

Qin Wan’er was at a loss for words with this lot…

But now wasn’t the time for arguments. She hurried back to the storeroom, handcuffed the unconscious Wang Shunxi, and called the station.

After Xu Yun and Qiu Yan left, Xu Yun called Qiangzi and told his crew to return and collect the dead dog. Dog meat is rich in protein, especially globulin, and Tibetan mastiff meat is even better—good for strengthening the body, promoting blood circulation, even boosting a man’s bedroom prowess!

Hearing this, Qiangzi’s gang didn’t care about the risk of police still on the scene. They rushed back and, right under Qin Wan’er’s nose, dragged away the dead Tibetan mastiff.

By the time Qin Wan’er heard the commotion and rushed out, they had already vanished without a trace! She stomped her foot in frustration, but couldn’t chase after them over a dog.

When Liu Guangming, chief of the Wenhui District substation, arrived with his men, he was utterly stunned! The city’s most famous Tibetan mastiff breeding base was in ruins, the notorious Four Wolves Gang leader Wang Shunxi half-dead on the ground, and a storeroom full of guns and ammunition—enough to put him away for a decade!

“Xiao Qin, you did all this?” Liu Guangming’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. This was unbelievable! Even if the entire station had mobilized, they couldn’t have pulled this off!

Qin Wan’er’s whole body tingled with nerves, but she had no choice but to answer stiffly, “Yes…”

“You’ve really brought honor to our station!” Liu Guangming couldn’t care less how she’d done it. All he knew was that this was a major achievement—his best chance at a promotion to the municipal bureau!
