Chapter Seventy-Two: Go, Luo Chen!
There was only one person who would address him like that. Luo Chen turned around, delighted, and saw that it was indeed Shi Feng.
Overjoyed, Luo Chen strode forward and gave him a hearty punch. “What are you doing here, you rascal?”
“Hey, watch it! Don’t go crushing a guy’s chest,” Shi Feng rubbed his torso with exaggerated disgust, saying, “I arrived at the academy yesterday to register!”
Caught up in the thrill of their reunion, Luo Chen asked, “Why did you come so early?”
Shi Feng rolled his eyes dramatically. “Obviously, I missed you! After traveling all this way to the academy, I asked the registering instructor about you, only to find out you hadn’t arrived yet.” His tone was so aggrieved that the two Discipline Committee members nearby felt their hair stand on end—were these two perhaps more than friends?
This was just how Luo Chen and Shi Feng expressed their camaraderie—joking and roughhousing. After a few exchanges, Luo Chen noticed Shi Feng’s hair, slicked back and shining. “What’s with your hair?” he asked curiously.
Shi Feng grinned, “Hey, I’ve just arrived in Miracle City. As the top bachelor of Canglan, of course I have to find some local beauties to chat about life and dreams with. I’ve calculated it—today I’ll definitely have a romantic encounter. But I’ll settle you in first. Honestly, you always ruin my chances with women!”
Muttering away, Shi Feng dragged Luo Chen deeper into the academy.
Blue Emperor Academy was vast, split into northern and southern sectors. Without using any lightfoot techniques, it would take an ordinary person over half an hour to walk from one end to the other—comparable to large, comprehensive universities of ancient civilizations. The campus was beautifully landscaped. The stone pathways were wide and clean, dotted with artificial lakes and traversed by graceful bridges, giving the place the ambiance of a grand park. Inspirational quotes from famous figures of ancient times adorned prominent boards everywhere.
“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.”
“A sharp sword is forged by grinding, the plum blossom’s fragrance comes from the bitter cold.”
“Knowledge is the torch of wisdom; diligence, the source of strength.”
And so on.
Luo Chen thought to himself that the academic atmosphere here was indeed intense. The competition would be fierce, with rivals drawn from the elite of various primary martial academies. To surpass them would require even greater effort.
Eventually, the two reached a densely clustered area in the southern sector—this was the dormitory complex. The buildings were arranged in neat rows, each block clearly numbered. Shi Feng led Luo Chen to Room 201 in one of the towers—their dormitory. It wasn’t luxurious, but it was clean and spacious enough to be comfortable. There was even a small balcony for taking in the view or enjoying the breeze.
Luo Chen noticed there were two bedrooms, making it a double dormitory. Seeing no one else, he asked casually, “Your roommate isn’t here yet? I’ll just stay here tonight then.”
“You idiot, this is your dorm too!” Shi Feng laughed. “The academy assigned us to the same room! Isn’t that great?”
Luo Chen was overjoyed. “No way, what a coincidence!”
Shi Feng shrugged. “I’m not sure how it happened, but that’s how it is. Oh, and as scholarship students, we get double rooms. The regular students have to share four to a room.”
Luo Chen clapped him on the shoulder. “Excellent! Now I won’t have to go hungry at night. By the way, I’ve been living on dry rations for three days since leaving Slo City. Are you going to treat me to something?”
Shi Feng muttered gloomily, “Damn, I’m your personal chef again. Fine, unpack your things and I’ll whip up some noodles. I’m not familiar with Miracle City yet, so I don’t know where to find ingredients for Supreme Nourishing Soup or Indestructible Artillery Broth! Oh, and by the way, I’ve come up with a new dish during this break called ‘Sleepless Tonight.’ It’ll blow your mind—try it sometime!”
“Can’t you just cook something normal for once?” Luo Chen shouted as he entered his room, dropping his large bag. He had already brought out his luggage earlier, not wanting to startle anyone by making it appear out of thin air.
The dorm conditions at Blue Emperor Academy were indeed impressive. The rooms were brand new, with tiled walls, and the beds were crafted with fine workmanship by professional carpenters. There was a small bedside cabinet for personal items, and the window overlooked a tall tree behind the tower.
After making his bed and arranging his belongings, Luo Chen caught a whiff of something delicious—the aroma of Shi Feng’s late-night noodles, no doubt. His appetite awakened, he stepped into the living room.
As soon as he appeared, Shi Feng grumbled, “Hey, beast, this sucks! Look at this pathetic living room—it’s not even a tenth the size of what we had at Westin Academy. Even the bathroom and toilet are tiny. I’ve been here a day and already feel suffocated.”
Luo Chen retorted, “You’re just asking for trouble! This dorm is way better than those rundown towers. Stop complaining!”
“You don’t get it!” Shi Feng replied with mock indignation. “Space is the ultimate luxury for someone who craves freedom like me. Without enough space, even the newest, fanciest place is just a birdcage. Back in those old towers, I could run two laps around the bathroom while showering—now, take a few steps and you hit the wall!”
With a snort, Luo Chen shot back, “Idiot, were you showering or streaking?”
Shi Feng sighed in mock despair. “Whatever. It’s just not the same. If only Blue Emperor Academy had some half-demolished buildings left, like before. I explored the campus yesterday—no luck. If I’d found one, I’d have applied to move in immediately! Anyway, enough talk—let’s eat. Freshmen are registering now, and the older students should be returning from break. Later, we’ll take a stroll around the academy, maybe spot some beautiful senior girls to soothe my wounded heart!”
The next day, Luo Chen completed his registration without a hitch. With two days before classes began, there wasn’t much to do. He spent one day getting acquainted with the academy grounds, and the next exploring Miracle City with Shi Feng—who, of course, was there for the girls, while Luo Chen was drawn to the equipment market. To his excitement, the market was huge, with hundreds of stalls—perfect for treasure hunting.
On the morning of the third day, Luo Chen awoke from his breathing exercises to the familiar sound of a wolf’s howl—it seemed Shi Feng was just as excited about the new academy. After all, the girls at Westin Academy had gotten rather dull after a while.
Ah, a new academy. A new life was about to begin.
Luo Chen, do your best!
