Chapter 107: The Fencing Incident
Shi Feng immediately said, “No problem, Zhuo Yuqing. Feel free to stay as long as you want, even until the rain stops. Besides, both this beast and I usually stay up late.”
“Beast?” Zhuo Yuqing covered her mouth, laughing softly. “Your choice of words for Luo Chen is quite amusing. It seems you two are very close.”
Shi Feng laughed heartily. “Of course! We share the same pair of underwear, after all!”
Luo Chen groaned, “I solemnly declare that I have never done such a thing!”
“Well, that’s because the beast’s underwear is always one size larger than mine, Zhuo Yuqing, you know what I mean...” The brotherly affection was truly selfless. Shi Feng was even willing to admit his inferiority for the sake of Luo Chen, which left Luo Chen feeling utterly chilled.
“Heh heh heh, no matter what, having a good friend by your side is truly a blessing. I really envy that,” Zhuo Yuqing said sincerely, a flicker of melancholy passing through her eyes before she quickly regained her composure and stretched lazily. “Phew, I’m a bit sleepy. Well, you two, I have a bad habit—once I’m tired, I immediately want to find a bed to lie down and sleep until dawn. What do you think I should do now?”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted toward the bed in Luo Chen’s room.
Her words came so abruptly that neither Shi Feng nor Luo Chen could react immediately.
What did Zhuo Yuqing mean by that?
Shi Feng thought he must have misheard and carefully asked, “Zhuo Yuqing, what did you say?”
She repeated, “I’m a bit sleepy and want to find somewhere to lie down. Shi Feng, is there space in your dorm?”
I told you, I, Shi the Great, never make mistakes. Zhuo Yuqing was practically delivering herself to warm Luo Chen’s bed. It was true—this beast really had enviable luck! Shi Feng was thrilled as he thought this.
Seeing Luo Chen still stunned, Shi Feng nudged him forcefully under the table.
That nudge finally brought Luo Chen back to his senses. He looked at Zhuo Yuqing and asked, “So, what exactly are you implying?”
Shi Feng nearly fainted inside. He thought, “Are you an idiot? Zhuo Yuqing’s intentions are as clear as day, and you’re still oblivious? I want to smack you senseless!” He kept signaling Luo Chen with his eyes, silently urging him to invite Zhuo Yuqing in, tear off his own facade, push her onto the bed, strip her naked, and then... well, the rest was left to the imagination.
Adopting the pragmatic mindset of a brotherly comrade, Shi Feng immediately concluded that if he were in Luo Chen’s shoes, there would be no hesitation in taking the next step.
Zhuo Yuqing was also frustrated, thinking, “Is your head filled with cotton? If I can’t make myself clear, do you want me to shamelessly say I want to spend the night here?”
Fortunately, Shi Feng, showing a rare moment of tact, expressed great indignation at Luo Chen’s lack of sensitivity. “Idiot! The rain is pouring down hard. Who knows if it’ll last until tomorrow? Staying up too late isn’t good for a girl’s skin, plus with all this thunder and lightning, even a pig running outside risks turning into roast pork at any moment... Uh, Zhuo Yuqing, sorry for the comparison. Anyway, if you don’t mind, why not stay here tonight? We’ll make do.”
Luo Chen hesitated, “But having a girl stay in a boys’ dormitory goes against school rules!”
“Rules, my foot!” Shi Feng immediately retorted. “Those rules are just for show. I’ve heard many senior students bring their girlfriends back to the dorm.”
Shi Feng wasn’t lying. The culture on the Azure Continent was quite liberal. At this age, hormones ran high; dating, loving, and even... intimacy were all normal. The academy wasn’t conservative or inhumane; they merely turned a blind eye.
Just a few days ago, their homeroom tutor, Master Porter, subtly reminded the students that normal interactions between boys and girls were allowed, but warned them not to take things too far. On the surface, it sounded like a warning, but it was basically a tacit approval, as long as things didn’t go “too far.” The two-person dormitories for scholarship students were practically dating paradises. Every morning, girls strutted out of the dorm area without a care, and the administrators never bothered them. This alone showed the academy’s attitude toward student relationships.
Seeing Luo Chen still wavering, Shi Feng said, “Stop dithering and just decide. Tonight, you better give up your bed obediently!”
Luo Chen asked in surprise, “Huh? Isn’t Zhuo Yuqing supposed to sleep in the common room?”
Not only Shi Feng but even Zhuo Yuqing herself wanted to bang her head against a wall. Did this guy have any sense? To think he wanted her to sleep in the common room! She cursed Luo Chen silently a thousand times in her heart. This stinky boy wasn’t a man—no, he was hardly even human!
Luo Chen sighed helplessly, “Fine.”
“Thanks to both of you, then. Phew, I’m so sleepy. I’m going to bed now. Good night, Luo Chen~” Zhuo Yuqing smiled at him and stepped into his room.
Once the door closed, Shi Feng whispered to Luo Chen, “Beast, see? I told you I was right. She’s practically inviting you to make a move—waiting for you to open the door and climb onto the bed! Heh heh, don’t worry, with all this thunder, no one will hear a thing! But take it easy; that girl’s a real enchantress—don’t break your waist!”
“Where did you get that from?” Luo Chen snapped. “I don’t have your vivid imagination. She’s just tired and can’t get back to her dorm. Didn’t you say before if I overthink things, I’d end up being thrown out the window?”
Shi Feng persisted, “No way. You saw it too—she only said goodnight to you and smiled at you, completely ignoring me, her knight in shining armor who brought her supper. She clearly likes you; otherwise, she’d treat us all equally!”
Luo Chen ignored him. “Whatever you think is fine. Anyway, tonight you and I will share a bed!”
“Share a bed with me?” Shi Feng fretted. “The beds here are so narrow, and we’ve had several bowls of ‘Sleepless Night Special.’ If you share a bed with me, it’s likely we’ll end up ‘fencing.’”
[Fencing: a professional term—use your imagination.]
Luo Chen chuckled, “If you don’t want to fence, just sleep with your back to me.”
Shi Feng frowned. “Do you think I’m stupid? Then tomorrow morning I’ll have a sore backside and be covered in bruises? Fine, bring on the fencing! Who’s afraid? Let’s see who’s stronger!”
“…”
Meanwhile, Zhuo Yuqing had already entered the room. Thinking that her plan for the night was mostly successful, she felt excited. Yet, when she remembered the brotherly friendship between Luo Chen and Shi Feng, she sighed deeply. She truly envied having such a close friend—but she had never had one, not once, since childhood.
