Chapter Nineteen: The First Pot of Gold

Time rewound to one day earlier.
Chen Mo had knowledge of the South Yan Continent team’s intelligence.
The captain of the South Yan Continent team was a guy with a second-level gene lock combined with a vampiric demon bloodline enhancement. During the Skycataclysm, he performed like someone who could tear apart squid-like aliens with his bare hands. Even when surrounded by multiple squid aliens, it didn’t faze him. Despite being injured, his running speed still surpassed that of a jeep. Yet, even with two other teammates, they struggled to defeat the gorilla-like alien who, in the original story, survived RPG blasts and crushing impacts from a falling helicopter, only wounded but not dead.
At best, he was a peak second-level, not reaching the third level.
The other two women: one was a psychic who could scan with mental powers, but her own strength was low. She couldn’t scan the entirety of Los Angeles to locate North Ice Continent members all at once, only searching area by area.
The other’s enhancement was unclear, but she was capable of trading blows with the squid aliens and possessed enough power to punch through a normal person's chest even when severely injured.
She was estimated to be around first level, not quite reaching second.
Given the current strength of the North Ice Continent team, a direct confrontation would surely end in a brutal defeat. That was why they had to rely on the aid of versatile allies.
First, they acquired a large quantity of explosives from Valon. Then, Aqua used her power as the Water Goddess to enchant these explosives with a holy attribute. Finally, a doppelgänger of Tokisaki Kurumi buried these explosives hidden beneath the police station.
Once the South Yan Continent team followed the Infinite Dawn storyline and entered the police station to kill those new recruits, Chen Mo could detonate the bombs, sending those three along to join the newcomers in death.
But in the end, a small problem arose...
And that problem lay with Aqua.
As the Water Goddess, although Aqua was a bit dim-witted, her attitude toward beings like the demonic vampiric undead was straightforward: “Evil must be slain”—in other words, all undead must die!
Despite losing much of her divine power, she could still unleash low-level adventurer-grade holy attacks potent enough to severely injure even Death Knights of the Demon Lord’s army. If combined properly, Aqua’s holy attacks could even cause serious harm to the neighboring Bone King.
In short, using Aqua’s holy purification abilities to take on the South Yan Continent team captain, who combined demon and vampiric bloodline enhancements, was perfectly fitting.
But there was a slight issue...
Staring at the block of explosives before him that glowed with a golden light bright enough to illuminate the entire room—its color rendered in radiant gold—Chen Mo silently put on his sunglasses.
This holy power was applied a bit too heavily.
Such intense holy energy could be sensed even by someone like him—a mere ordinary person without energy circulation and not even a transcendent. The South Yan Continent team’s supernaturals would certainly feel it as well. Using these holy explosives as an ambush would be noticed at a glance...

One could only say, that was Aqua for you—she always had to do something flashy.
But it wasn’t a big problem. Because he was wary of Aqua, Chen Mo hadn’t sent all the explosives and weapons for enchantment. There were still plenty of regular explosives left, enough to blow the entire police station sky-high. He could continue planting these ordinary bombs to deal with the South Yan Continent team.
As for the holy explosives, they wouldn’t go to waste. If they couldn’t kill the South Yan Continent team captain in one blast, Kurumi could simply rush in holding those holy bombs and blow herself up with the enemy.
If the captain was killed outright, the holy explosives could be used in the next battle against the Bloodthirsty Dawn group of the Fallen and the vampires.
So, he had Kurumi’s doppelgängers take the explosives and surveillance cameras over to the police station for setup, while he himself peacefully took a nap.
Time returned to the present.
Kurumi’s doppelgängers handled the operation flawlessly. Watching the surveillance footage, the explosives buried beneath the police station weren’t discovered by the psychic. As for the cameras, Chen Mo used ordinary models, likely mistaken by the enemy as part of the police station’s system—if noticed, they were ignored.
Chen Mo calmly watched as the three members of the South Yan Continent team entered the police station and began their usual rambling before slaughtering all six North Ice Continent newcomers trapped in the detention cells.
After silently observing it all, Chen Mo glanced down at the Reincarnation Watch. No notification from the Overlord appeared.
In the original storyline, after the Skycataclysm scenario ended, the Overlord would inform him of the deaths of the team members and deduct reward points accordingly.
Chen Mo felt nothing about the deaths of these six newcomers—in fact, he thought they died well and deservedly.
Although their deaths would cause a negative impact of 12,000 reward points, in the third generation, side quests and reward points were not hard to come by. Especially with the ample preparation Chen Mo had made for this Skycataclysm, he could easily make up for the loss.
Moreover, saving these newcomers wouldn’t be a good thing for the North Ice Continent. The downsides far outweighed any benefits.
These six were clearly considered “low quality” among the Reincarnators. When numbers grew, and rewards increased, managing the team became much harder.
Incidents such as disobedience, unauthorized actions, or even attempts to usurp power and split the team were all possible.
Such situations occurred frequently in the original third generation storyline. The North Ice Continent team only ceased these issues after everyone but Chu Hao and Zhang Heng died... because all the teammates were gone.
Teams like the Central Continent’s first generation, which could be rallied by Zheng Zha’s strong cohesion, were actually the rare exceptions.
Also, if all these people were brought back to the Overlord’s space, under Chu Hao and Chen Mo’s management, gaining massive reward points and side quest benefits was inevitable.

Because so many teammates survived, and the rewards were greater, the next battle’s difficulty would certainly explode.
Especially since this was a team battle! Against the Central Continent team! And the Overlord would see the North Ice Continent team return to the space with not a single casualty?
Very well, the next scenario must be arranged with super high difficulty. Should the North Ice Continent team fight the Celestial Court or the Memes next...
That was why Chen Mo chose to act as he did.
Now, the bruises had been wiped clean by the South Yan Continent team, leaving no lingering worries.
To thank them, as soon as the three reached the police station entrance, Chen Mo sent them a “big gift.”
“Killer Queen! First bomb!”
Speaking, Chen Mo pressed the button in his hand.
Boom—
A violent explosion erupted, leveling the entire police station. The surveillance footage on the tablet immediately turned to static.
The Overlord’s cold mechanical voice rang in Chen Mo’s ears.
[Killing enemy team members without activated gene locks grants 2,000 reward points and a C-rank side quest.]
[Killing enemy team members without activated gene locks grants 2,000 reward points and a C-rank side quest.]
Excellent.
Since entering the Overlord’s space, Chen Mo had earned his first bucket of gold.
