In this society, there exists a group whose wealth is seldom earned through upright means. For people like them, money is the answer to every problem. Yu Changqing was one of these.

“Director Yu, I haven’t come for your money. I’ve come for someone.” I had no time for pleasantries and spoke bluntly.

“For someone? Who? Meng Yao?” His eyes flickered with unease.

I was speechless; where had his thoughts wandered? The woman he mentioned had beauty, a figure, even a good education, but lacked character. How could I possibly be here for her? I shook my head firmly. “Director Yu, I’m Wang Ying’s boyfriend. I’m here for her father.” When I uttered Wang Ying’s father's name, Yu’s gaze faltered.

“I’m sorry, your girlfriend’s father was arrested for bribery. That has nothing to do with me.” Yu Changqing, sly and cunning, had managed to send Wang Ying’s father to prison to save himself; he would never admit to orchestrating it.

“Very well, then. Wait for the video to be exposed. I’m leaving.” I stood to go—though I had no intention of actually leaving; he wouldn’t let me walk out.

“Hold on, young man. How about a deal?” Yu Changqing rose and blocked my way.

“What deal? Unless you’re willing to exchange Wang Ying’s father for the video, forget about anything else.” These old foxes would never easily release Wang Ying’s father.

“Young man, secretly filming is illegal. I won’t press charges. How about one hundred thousand for your video? Besides, your future father-in-law will be out in a few years—it’s not a capital crime, right?” Yu Changqing fumbled in his pocket, as if searching for cash or a card.

“Illegal filming? I’m not afraid! If you’re not scared of breaking the law, fine. A government official, seducing another man’s wife and brazenly sleeping with her—if this gets out, you’ll need more than a hundred thousand to buy your reputation back!” I waved my phone, feeling quite triumphant. What a brilliant plan I’d devised.

“Two hundred thousand. That’s my final offer.” Yu Changqing gritted his teeth.

Unbelievable—he really thought I was here to extort him. I was here to save someone! “Brother, I don’t want your money. I just want the person.”

Yu Changqing’s eyes shifted, as if weighing his options. He finally said, “Fine, I’ll go upstairs and make a call, see if I can arrange for Wang Ying’s father to be released.” He took his phone and ascended to the second floor.

His tone was unnatural, his gaze cunning, avoiding mine. I suspected he was playing games, but I wasn’t worried. With three little ghosts supporting me, my palm thunder could level his house. Why should I fear him?

While Yu Changqing was on the phone, I quietly instructed Shangguan Wan’er and the others to be ready.

Soon, Yu Changqing came downstairs, his expression changed—gone was the earlier panic, replaced by a smug smirk. I pretended not to notice.

“Alright, wait a bit. Someone will come to resolve the issue. Delete the video from your phone.” Yu Changqing sat, poured himself a glass of red wine, and sipped gracefully.

The bastard was enjoying himself—sending someone to prison to save his own skin, sleeping with another man’s wife, drinking red wine. What kind of life was this? How could such a person go unpunished?

Lost in my thoughts, the doorbell suddenly rang. Yu Changqing’s face changed instantly; he hurried to open the door. A group of men in black stood outside, blocking the entrance.

I’d guessed Yu Changqing would call for backup when he went upstairs, but I hadn’t expected them to arrive so swiftly or in such numbers.

“Boss, what’s going on? Is it this kid?” The leader was a burly man, muscles rippling—clearly someone trained.

Yu Changqing sneered, “Take his phone. Leave him a finger, then let him go.” He had shed his earlier gentleness; his eyes now glinted with malice.

“Wait.” I gestured, sat down by the sofa, poured myself a glass of his red wine and took a sip, imitating him. “Yu, can’t you be a bit more creative? Collusion between officials and criminals—is that really interesting to you?”

The burly man was obviously displeased by my words. He grabbed my arm. “Coming here in the dead of night to extort us—you’ve got guts!”

I laughed inwardly; he’d soon see just how gutsy I was. I turned to face him. “What are you trying to do?”

“Your phone, your finger.” He relied on his size and numbers, seeing me as nothing more than a bug. As he twisted my arm, a sudden jolt ran through me, and a voice whispered in my ear, “Wang Dachuan, I’ve possessed you. You now have inexhaustible strength; give him a good beating.” It was Shangguan Wan’er.

That mischievous girl—she’d cursed me earlier, but now she was here to help. I spun around, and with the newfound strength, reversed the burly man’s grip, slamming him onto the sofa. “Buddy, with strength like that, you think you can run a gang?”

He hadn’t expected to be thrown so easily and was angry, grabbing a bottle from the table and swinging it at my head.

That was ruthless—a full wine bottle to the head could be fatal. I was about to strike when a force propelled my fist forward. I was moved; Shangguan Wan’er must be controlling my body now.

Smack! Before the burly man’s fist could reach my head, my own fist crashed into his chest. The blow was so powerful it left my arm numb.

He collapsed onto the sofa again, his face yellow with shock, blood trickling from his mouth. That punch was fierce—Wan’er was no weakling when it came to fighting. Still, it wasn’t too harsh; had that bottle struck my head, I’d be the one coughing blood.

I pulled the burly man to his feet. “Buddy, do you still want my phone and finger?”

He was badly injured, unable to resist, blood seeping from his lips. “No, no, I don’t.”

I shoved him toward the group of thugs by the door. “Take him away. Anyone else who disagrees can try their luck, one-on-one or all at once.” With Wan’er, Xuan Li, and Qing Ting at my side, I felt confident.

The gangsters exchanged glances, evidently realizing their fists weren’t as hard as their leader’s. They carried him away, beaten and subdued.

“Director Yu, that wasn’t very honorable of you. I treated you with respect, and this is how you repay me?” I said coldly, seating myself on the sofa and sipping the red wine.

“You, you… I… I’m sorry! I failed to recognize your greatness. I’ll give you five hundred thousand—just give me the video, alright?” Yu Changqing, seeing his hired muscle defeated so quickly, was utterly dejected, his arrogance gone.

“Yu, it’s not about the money.” I hadn’t finished when another group entered.

Dear god, Yu was going all out—he’d called the police. Breaking the law himself, yet daring to summon them! Clearly, he had powerful connections.

“Director Li, this kid came to my house in the middle of the night to extort me. What do you suggest?” As the police entered, Yu’s expression shifted yet again.

“Is that so? Arrest him.” Director Li barely glanced at me and ordered his subordinates. Two officers came over and seized my arms.

“Officer, aren’t you afraid of breaking the law, arresting someone without asking a single question?” I was frustrated—what kind of police were these, not even bothering to investigate?

“Causing trouble at someone’s home in the dead of night—who else should I arrest?” Officer Li replied arrogantly.

“Wait, you can’t just arrest someone without reason. This young man isn’t a criminal; he’s here to rescue me. I’ve been imprisoned by Yu Changqing, living an inhuman existence.” As I pondered ways to escape, a woman descended the staircase slowly.

Her words stunned me. I recognized her—she was Yu Changqing’s secretary, and his mistress.
