Chapter Fifty: Discovered! (Please keep reading)
“He is the Magician.”
Cheng Feng held the wine glass delicately, savoring the taste of red wine, his icy gaze fixed on the auction stage where the host stood dressed in a black magician’s costume.
The founder who established the monster auction was right before his eyes. This creature, this monster, had abducted countless people, sending them to the auction to be bought and sold, shattering innumerable families.
It had nearly ruined Lin Xiaoqin and those three high school girls, and now his own sister was in danger.
Cheng Feng’s hand tightened around the wine glass, his eyes flashing with murderous intent as he stared unblinkingly at the man on the stage.
Sitting beside him, Liu Shiyu noticed the change and, beneath the table, gently pressed her slender hand against his thigh, whispering, “Keep calm…”
“I understand.” Cheng Feng composed himself, taking another sip of wine.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats and refrain from moving around.”
The Magician, clad in a black tailcoat, stood straight on the auction stage, wearing a white smiling mask equipped with a microphone, his clear voice echoing through the hall.
From behind the tables, a monster disguised as a wealthy lady spoke up, “Magician, how’s the quality of this batch of ‘goods’? The last auction didn’t quite satisfy me.”
“Yes, Magician, and last time there were far too few ‘goods.’ The auction ended before I could even bid for a human leg. I brought a hefty sum tonight.”
Another monster, dressed as a gentleman, voiced his own dissatisfaction.
“Can we start now, Magician? I’ve been drinking for hours, waiting to buy a child to make soup and cure my hangover.”
One by one, the monsters expressed their opinions from below the stage.
The Magician paid them no mind, chuckling lightly as he clapped his hands crisply.
With the applause, the noisy din of the auction hall gradually faded, countless fervent eyes now fixed upon him.
“Rest assured, honored guests. This auction will satisfy you all—every ‘item’ is guaranteed quality, and you will not be disappointed.”
The Magician spread his arms wide like a grand orator, sweeping his gaze across the monsters below and smiling as he spoke.
“I know you’ve all grown impatient, so I won’t waste time with pointless introductions. Let’s get straight to the main event.
I hereby announce… the auction has officially begun!”
…
Under the dim night.
Dozens of armored, bulletproof vehicles sped through the streets of the northern district.
Demon hunters mobilized in full force, prompting other cars to quickly clear the way.
He Molly sat in the back seat, eyes closed, arms crossed, her spirit blade, Gale, gleaming at her side.
Beneath her cold demeanor, her lips barely whispered, “The battle is about to begin…”
…
Danger loomed. The demon hunters from the Disaster Association were on their way, but the elite monsters in the auction had no inkling, and the auction proceeded as scheduled.
The monsters raised their paddles eagerly, bidding on the auctioned items—humans.
On stage, the Magician, serving as host, praised the girl beside him with a smile, “Look, this girl is fifteen, a perfect age when the flower is ready to bloom.
She weighs eighty-four pounds, top of her dance class. It took quite some effort to capture her.
Look at her tender, fair skin—fresh and delicious, the meat silky and smooth. One bite and you’ll know it’s exquisite…”
Under the bright spotlight, the girl’s face was full of fear. Her hands were bound, her eyes covered with a red ribbon, blocking her sight.
Her body bore many scars, evidence of her desperate resistance when she was first caught.
Now, she stood on stage, bereft of the courage to escape, in utter despair, barely able to sob, resigned to await her fate.
The Magician lavished praise, and the monsters below were practically drooling.
He smiled, announcing the price unhurriedly, “Starting bid for this girl is ten thousand. Please, place your bids.”
Below, Cheng Feng’s expression turned icy cold. Every human life was priceless.
To see a living person treated as a mere commodity, like livestock to be bought by monsters for ten thousand yuan, was hateful beyond words.
He had prepared himself mentally before coming, but witnessing such scenes, seeing his fellow humans subjected to this, ignited a fury within him.
Tonight, not a single monster would be spared.
Liu Shiyu beside him shared the same indignation.
As the Magician finished his announcement, a middle-aged monster raised his bidding paddle, “Not bad, this child is a dance student, surely tender. I’ll buy her for twenty thousand!”
“Ha, such a pretty girl, how could I let you have her so easily? Thirty thousand!” another monster raised his paddle.
A nouveau riche monster then bid, “Move aside, you paupers! Forty thousand!”
…
Listening to the rising bids from the monsters below, the Magician’s smile nearly split his face.
His gaze occasionally, covertly, lingered on Cheng Feng among the crowd, a secret gleam in his eyes.
Cheng Feng didn’t notice the Magician’s subtle glance, but he felt a sudden unease, his mind ill at ease.
His passive skill, Crisis Warning, alerted him to a potential danger.
Yet the auction proceeded normally, with no abnormal events.
He was already on edge, watching for any change in the atmosphere.
On stage, the girl was auctioned off at sixty thousand, bought by a monster, then pushed backstage to await collection after the event.
Cheng Feng had come to buy his sister and ensure her safety, but after half the auction, she had yet to appear.
Growing impatient, he discreetly checked his phone for the time.
8:45 PM.
Cheng Feng frowned—he hadn’t noticed how late it had become.
The Disaster Association was scheduled to attack the monster auction at nine; time was running out, and he could not afford further delays.
Noticing Cheng Feng’s anxious expression, Liu Shiyu quietly reassured him, “Wait a little longer; there’s still time.”
Just then, another girl was pushed onto the stage, even younger—about twelve years old.
This little girl was also bound, her eyes covered with a red ribbon.
Cheng Feng’s usually calm gaze finally changed, for the girl on stage was none other than his sister, Cheng Yi!
“Wow, this girl is so tender! Such a cute face… whatever the price, I must have her.”
“Get out of my way! Taking such a pretty girl home just to eat her would be a waste… no matter what, I’m determined to win!”
“Magician, hurry up with the price! We can’t wait any longer!”
With Cheng Yi pushed onto the stage, the monsters eagerly prepared to bid.
“Ha ha, no need to rush, everyone…”
The Magician did not announce a price. The gaze behind his white smiling mask fixed directly on Cheng Feng.
Cheng Feng’s eyes met his, and he instantly knew something was wrong.
He’d been discovered!
Sure enough, the Magician, before all the monsters, announced with a cold smile, “Ladies and gentlemen, if two demon hunters have infiltrated this auction, what do you think should be done?”
