Outside the Intensive Care Unit, the lighting was dim and yellowed, and the sharp scent of disinfectant hung heavily in the air, casting a suffocating gloom.

Yun Qiuyah lay quietly on the hospital bed, like a sculpture forgotten by time.

Her body was pierced by all manner of tubes, these connections linking her tightly to the complex medical equipment around her, as if racing against time, struggling against death itself.

The brace around her neck held her once slender throat perfectly straight, making her small, delicate face seem even more exquisite—like a finely crafted work of art.

Yun Qiuyah’s eyes were tightly shut, her long lashes like two small fans gently resting upon her eyelids.

Her face was utterly devoid of color, her skin pale to the point of translucency, as if a mere touch could shatter it.

This lifeless pallor lent her a tragic, haunting beauty.

She lay there motionless, as if in deep slumber.

Were it not for the cold, flickering lights of the instruments around her, beeping softly, it would have seemed she had truly fallen into sleep.

He Lingfeng stood outside the ICU, his gaze fixed intently on Yun Qiuyah.

At that moment, Shen Qing’s voice suddenly came from beside him.

She had somehow appeared silently at He Lingfeng’s side, also watching Yun Qiuyah through the glass.

“Qiuyah… it’s almost better if she stays asleep like this,” Shen Qing said. “Having lived a life of luxury and ease for over twenty years as a wealthy daughter, she hasn’t lost out in this lifetime.”

He Lingfeng’s lips parted slightly, his voice fragile and faint: “The doctors say she’s tough—she might wake up sooner than expected.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Qing’s expression immediately darkened.

She suddenly grew anxious. “If she wakes… won’t the Yun Corporation fall back under her control? Yun Jiannan is still just a low-level sales supervisor—when would he ever become regional manager?” Her words carried the weight of deep concern.

But He Lingfeng curled a faint, knowing smile. “The doctors only said she might wake, but whether her mind will be clear… that’s unknown.”

The glow of hope returned to Shen Qing’s eyes as if a great weight had been lifted.

At the Wen family villa.

Returning home late at night, Wen Wan’er was exhausted. She threw her bag heavily onto the sofa with a dull thud, then went straight upstairs to her bedroom.

She sat by the bed, hugging her knees tightly, burying her head deeply as if trying to shut out all the chaos of the world.

Suddenly, a knock sounded at the door.

Then came Qing’er’s concerned voice: “Miss Wen Wan’er, are you alright? I know this is hard, but I believe Miss Qiuyah will be fine.”

Hearing Qing’er’s voice, Wen Wan’er suddenly lifted her head as if remembering something urgent.

She sprang up, rushed to the door, and flung it open, scrutinizing Duoduo standing before her.

Qing’er wore a pure white casual outfit, her hair neatly tied back in a bun, each strand seemingly pinned diligently in place without a single hair out of place.

Her skin was somewhat sun-kissed, a healthy wheat tone; her dark eyes sparkled with innocence and kindness.

Under Wen Wan’er’s intense gaze, Qing’er blushed, feeling awkward, lowering her head to examine herself before timidly asking, “Miss, what are you looking at?”

Finally, Wen Wan’er spoke, her eyes locked on Qing’er’s: “Did you apply for a cleaning job at Yun Corporation before coming here?”

Qing’er nodded, puzzled. “That was a year ago. Why do you ask all of a sudden, Miss?”

Wen Wan’er said nothing but suddenly grabbed Qing’er’s arm, pulling her back into the room and closing the door.

She stared at Qing’er seriously. “Qiuyah’s in trouble now. I suspect she was harmed, but there’s no proof. The police won’t take the case yet, but I can’t just stand by—I have to find the culprit and avenge Qiuyah.”

---

Qing’er’s face first showed confusion, then a flash of anger.

Frowning, she said, “Everyone in Yun City is saying the Yun heiress fell from a building. The police ruled it an accident, but Miss, how do you see it differently?”

Wen Wan’er patted Qing’er’s shoulder, her voice low and resolute. “It’s not a sixth sense or intuition.”

Then she unlocked her phone and showed Qing’er a strange text message.

Qing’er’s eyes widened in shock, her hand covering her mouth as if she was about to cry out.

Her face was filled with disbelief.

Wen Wan’er emphasized again, “Since you applied at Yun Corporation before, they should remember you. It will be easier for you to gather information than for me.”

“Miss, I’ll do whatever you say. I’m with you, as long as we can uncover the truth,” Qing’er said firmly, meeting Wen Wan’er’s gaze.

A brief silence fell over the room.

Outside, the occasional call of a night bird pierced the stillness, deepening the solemn atmosphere within.

Wen Wan’er and Qing’er looked at each other, their eyes shining with unwavering determination.
