The room was so silent that only Yun Qiuya’s faint breathing could be heard, as if even the air had frozen in place.

Suddenly, a shrill phone ring shattered the tranquility. Yun Qiuya snapped back to herself, glaring furiously at her phone. But the moment she saw Wen Wan’er’s name flashing on the screen, her anger was instantly replaced by an inexplicable calm.

“Hello, Wan’er.” Yun Qiuya answered, striving to keep her tone steady and hide the turmoil inside.

“Qiuya, are you up yet? The weather is amazing today! Let’s go have afternoon tea together!” Wen Wan’er’s voice was as warm as a spring breeze.

Yun Qiuya took a deep breath, forcing her voice to sound normal. “Wan’er, I have something very important to handle today. Let’s have coffee some other time.” With that, she hung up, giving Wen Wan’er no opportunity to press further.

On the other end, Wen Wan’er’s face froze in a look of disappointment. Half-jokingly, she muttered, “Did you have too much fun with He Lingfeng last night and can’t bear to get out of bed?”

The only reply was the monotonous beep of the ended call.

Wen Wan’er frowned in confusion, her expression turning perplexed. At that moment, her phone buzzed twice. She glanced at the screen—Yun Qiuya had sent a text: “If anything happens to me, it’s all He Lingfeng’s fault!”

A sudden sense of dread welled up in Wen Wan’er’s heart. She knitted her brows tighter, her fingers drumming nervously on the table.

Meanwhile, Yun Qiuya was already speeding down the road in her car.

Soon after, a pink sports car came to a steady stop in front of Yunmeng Corporation.

With a stormy expression, Yun Qiuya strode into the building. The employees of Yunmeng greeted her respectfully as she passed, but she seemed not to notice, her voice cold as she demanded, “Where’s He Lingfeng?”

The employees exchanged uneasy glances, intimidated by her ashen face and icy eyes, too frightened to reply.

Yun Qiuya didn’t press further and headed straight for the elevator.

In the building’s surveillance room, a uniformed security guard, having seen Yun Qiuya enter the elevator, quietly slipped out a text message before returning to watch the monitors intently.

Inside the general manager’s office, He Lingfeng and Quan Duoduo were locked in a passionate embrace, as if the whole world had vanished, leaving only the two of them.

Quan Duoduo glanced at the message from the security guard, a sly smile playing on her lips. In a low, husky whisper, she murmured, “Yun Qiuya, today I’ll make you wish you were dead.”

She then spun gracefully in He Lingfeng’s arms, pressing him down onto the desk, her gaze seductively locked on his. “Darling, yesterday was your engagement, wasn’t it? I wonder if she satisfied you last night—or maybe you snuck off for an extra taste when you got home…”

Her voice was laced with provocative innuendo, while He Lingfeng, pinned beneath her, showed only disgust.

“How could I ever touch that wretch Yun Qiuya? Only you can ignite my desire. Just the sight of that woman sickens me!”

Yun Qiuya, wearing sneakers, moved silently down the carpeted corridor of the twenty-seventh floor, each step taut as a drawn bowstring.

Laughter and flirtatious voices drifted from the innermost office.

He Lingfeng’s words reached Yun Qiuya just as she arrived at the office door.

Through the gap, she saw the two entangled together, and tears instantly blurred her vision.

A searing pain slashed through her heart, nausea rising in her throat.

She couldn’t believe He Lingfeng would betray her like this.

Biting her lip until it bled, Yun Qiuya pressed her hands over her mouth, desperately trying to stifle her sobs.

Inside, the office was filled with the playful laughter of Quan Duoduo and He Lingfeng, the very air seeming to dance with their pleasure.

All of it was obliterated in an instant by a resounding crash as Yun Qiuya burst through the door.

He Lingfeng’s smile froze. In a panic, he shoved Quan Duoduo off him, terror written plainly across his face.

He stared in disbelief at Yun Qiuya in the doorway; her eyes were bloodshot, filled with a fury that could incinerate all pretense and betrayal.

“What are you doing here? Why didn’t you call first?” He Lingfeng’s voice trembled, betraying his fear as he tried to regain composure.

Quan Duoduo stood elegantly, her tight dress accentuating her figure. She calmly adjusted her neckline and smirked with mocking disdain.

She glanced at He Lingfeng, her tone tinged with provocation. “Since she’s found out, there’s no need to hide it anymore. Tell her the truth today.”

Hearing Quan Duoduo’s words was like a hammer blow to Yun Qiuya’s chest, the pain intensifying.

Like a wounded animal, she lunged at Quan Duoduo, hands clamped around her neck.

Her eyes blazed red, her voice hoarse with rage. “Quan Duoduo, I treated you like a sister—and this is how you repay me!”

Then she turned, eyes like knives aimed at He Lingfeng. “He Lingfeng, you once swore to my parents that you’d be loyal to me for life. Have you forgotten how you climbed from a penniless nobody to the position of general manager?”

The terror in He Lingfeng’s eyes shifted instantly to malice at her words.

He rushed forward and yanked Yun Qiuya off Quan Duoduo.

The frail Yun Qiuya was flung to the floor like a fallen leaf. She struggled to rise, but He Lingfeng’s strength overwhelmed her, and she lay helpless on the floor.

“That’s right, you’re not wrong!” He Lingfeng’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice bordering on hysteria. “Your parents did me a favor, but so what? Haven’t I contributed enough to the Yun family all these years? Must their kindness chain me to you for life? Why? You’re nothing but a leech, feeding off your parents, feeding off me—you can’t compare to Duoduo in any way, do you understand?”

Every word from He Lingfeng was a knife plunged into Yun Qiuya’s heart.

A suffocating pain gripped her chest, as if her entire world was collapsing.

At that moment, Quan Duoduo rushed to Yun Qiuya’s side.

She shoved Yun Qiuya with all her strength, sending her reeling toward the window.

With a shattering crash, the glass exploded into countless shards, and Yun Qiuya’s body plummeted like a severed kite.

In that instant, time itself seemed to freeze.
