Chapter 96: Drinking the Nectar Freely
Bai Xiaoyue smiled as she asked, "Xiao Meng, which room would you like?"
Tu Xiaomeng laughed merrily, "Sister Bai, I want the room in the middle—this way, you and Songtar are my 'neighbors,' one on the left and one on the right. Sleeping in the middle room, I'll have company on both sides, and I'll feel secure!"
Bai Xiaoyue nodded with a smile, "Alright, Xiao Meng, the middle room is yours. Songtar, which of the remaining rooms would you like?"
"Hehehe..." Songtar chuckled warmly, "Sister Bai, there's no need to choose. Didn’t Xiao Meng just say I’m her 'left neighbor'? Of course, the room on the left is mine."
Tu Xiaomeng immediately praised him, "Oh! Songtar, well done—you’re finally paying attention!"
Bai Xiaoyue laughed as well, "Good job, Songtar. So it's settled: the left room is yours, the right room is mine..." She then turned to Yan Chixia. "Little brother, it's your turn to show your skills!"
Yan Chixia replied, "Alright," and began to activate various items for Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Songtar according to their needs, using the Paper Talisman Art again and again...
...
Lishan Mountain, Zixia Palace.
She Meier followed the Nine Heavens Fairy to the place where the Cloud Sovereign was staying. He lay peacefully asleep on the bed.
Originally, the Cloud Sovereign's "Inch-by-Inch Scorch" terminal illness was even more severe than the one plaguing Master Qingxu, but upon arriving at Zixia Palace and meeting the Nine Heavens Fairy, she immediately gave him a powerful golden pill to relieve pain and cough. Thus, he was spared the agony of his illness.
"Xiaotian, wake up..." The Nine Heavens Fairy stood beside him and called softly. "The 'Scorch-Defeating Golden Pill' is ready. Take it quickly."
Cloud Sovereign awoke, and upon seeing the pill in the Fairy's hand, he was overcome with emotion. He quickly took it and swallowed it.
She Meier stood nearby, watching Cloud Sovereign's expression with nervous anticipation.
At first, his face was deathly pale, utterly devoid of color, but as the golden pill dissolved in his stomach, his complexion grew rosy, his features radiant, and a contented smile bloomed across his face.
Seeing this, She Meier knew her golden pill had worked perfectly, and she broke into a joyful smile, "Brother Yun, congratulations on your recovery. Your hardship is finally over!"
Hearing her, Cloud Sovereign sat up and replied, "Thank you for your concern, Sister She! It’s been half a year since we last met, and you’ve grown even more beautiful!"
"You flatter me, Brother Yun. I’m not worthy of such praise," She Meier replied with a charming smile.
But the Nine Heavens Fairy was unabashed, declaring,
...
"What’s there to be modest about? My Meier only grows more beautiful by the day!"
"You’re absolutely right, Aunt," Cloud Sovereign laughed. "Aunt, I’ve been away from the Azure Cloud Sect for many days... Now that I’m cured, I won’t delay any longer and will return to the Azure Cloud Sect at once."
"Very well!" The Nine Heavens Fairy nodded. "Xiaotian, if you wish to leave, go ahead. Meier, give your brother the 'Five-Colored Spirit Stones.'"
She Meier responded, silently reciting a spell to summon ten 'Five-Colored Spirit Stones' from her storage ring and handed them to Cloud Sovereign.
Delighted, he stored the ten stones in his own space and, after bidding farewell to the Fairy and She Meier, used the Azure Cloud Sect’s escape technique to depart from Lishan...
By now, night had fallen.
The Nine Heavens Fairy and She Meier returned together to the alchemy room to begin brewing nectar.
For the Fairy, brewing nectar posed no difficulty—the challenge lay in gathering enough dew-laden nectar essence. Once the essence was plentiful, the process was simple, requiring only careful timing and control of the fire for concentration.
Thus, after pouring a full jar of nectar essence into the furnace, the Fairy sat before it, using the Fire Command Technique to control the Threefold True Flame, gently refining the nectar while conversing leisurely with She Meier.
The so-called Threefold True Flame is created when a cultivator combines their essence, vital energy, and spirit into a fire seed—resembling a golden pill—stored in the middle dantian. When needed, it can be expelled by mouth, and upon entering the furnace or striking any object, it bursts into flames. The size and strength of the fire are controlled through the Fire Command Technique...
Unnoticed, six hours slipped by.
As the Fairy and She Meier chatted, the vast heavens above saw the stars fade away... When the morning star appeared quietly in the eastern sky, dawn arrived, ushering in a new day.
By then, the Fairy saw that the boiling nectar essence had condensed into pure, creamy nectar, emitting a sweet fragrance. She could no longer contain her delight and said, "Good, the nectar is finished. Meier, this morning I’ll drink nectar with you!"
"Really?" She Meier’s heart overflowed with joy. "Wonderful! Master, I’ve dreamed of this day..."
"Indeed." The Fairy nodded. "Meier, your dream comes true today! After we drink, I’ll personally accompany you to Qingxu Temple on Zhongnan Mountain."
"Personally?" She Meier was surprised. "Master, didn’t you send your avatar with me yesterday? Why do you want to come yourself today?"
The Fairy replied, "Because there are many important matters to attend to today—each one vital!"
As she spoke, the Fairy used her magic to pour the brewed nectar into a vessel of fine mutton-fat jade. (Jade vessel—an ancient small urn, made of bronze or pottery, used for wine or water and sometimes for sauces.) After sealing the vessel, she instructed She Meier, "Meier, come, let’s go to the rear garden—bring all your dew-laden nectar."
"Master, why should I bring the nectar to the rear garden?" She Meier asked, puzzled.
The Fairy answered, "To pave a path and build two flowerbeds with it."
"Ah?" She Meier blinked. "Master, I was only joking—why take it seriously?"
"This is called keeping one’s word!" The Fairy said solemnly. "Meier, remember: honor your word, a promise is worth a thousand pieces of gold—this is the foundation of character!"
...
She Meier immediately straightened, "Yes, Master! I will remember your earnest teachings!"
With that, she silently summoned all her dew-laden nectar into her storage ring and happily followed the Fairy to the rear garden.
The rear garden was behind Zixia Palace, nestled against the mountain and beside water, vast in size, with pavilions, terraces, corridors, and gazebos, as well as a profusion of flowers, grasses, and trees.
These plants, whether herbaceous or woody, were all medicinal varieties of great ornamental value. Since the Nine Heavens Fairy had placed a barrier around Zixia Palace, the climate was warm and evergreen: white datura, poppies, honeysuckle, purple perilla, toxin-absorbing grass, mint, camellia, wild lilies, bellflowers, violets, red azaleas, sensitive plant, golden thread grass, gardenia, hosta, lingzhi, cordyceps, violet groundsel, heartbreak grass, elder, eight-point maple, ivy, deer musk grass, ambergris grass... All distributed perfectly, blooming in riotous color, fragrant and beautiful.
The Fairy and She Meier entered the garden and began paving the path and building flowerbeds with the nectar.
The Fairy wielded her magic, while She Meier pointed and directed. In less than half an hour, two flowerbeds encircled with nectar and a path paved with it appeared in the garden—adding elegance and grandeur to its already vibrant beauty.
She Meier followed the Fairy along the nectar path, beaming with happiness.
After strolling for a while, the Fairy said, "The nectar has cooled and is ready to drink. Meier, fetch the jade vessel and let’s drink together in the Pavilion of Intoxicated Immortals!"
"Wonderful! Master, I’ll go get the nectar right away," She Meier responded joyfully and ran to the alchemy room.
The Fairy walked slowly toward the pavilion.
It was roughly a hundred and eighty steps away. As the Fairy entered and took her seat at the jade table, She Meier arrived, holding the jade vessel in both hands, her smile radiant, and gently placed it on the stone table. "Master, what shall we use to pour the nectar?"
The Fairy replied, "Fine drink deserves fine vessels—let’s use the luminous cups."
With a wave of her hand, two exquisite luminous cups appeared in her palm from her storage space.
Seeing this, She Meier opened the vessel, picked it up, and said, "Master, let me pour the nectar."
"Very well!" The Fairy placed the cups on the table. "Meier, fill them both... Today, drink as much as you wish, to your heart’s content!"
"Yes, I understand!" She Meier replied sweetly and carefully filled both cups, then set down the vessel. Seeing the Fairy raise a cup, she took the other, her heart surging with excitement, "Master, let’s toast together!"
"Cheers!" the Fairy replied, and promptly drank her cup of nectar in one gulp.
