Seeing this, She Meier could not help feeling compassion. In her haste, she blurted out:
“Stop!”
At the sound of her voice, the Limitless Adept’s heart gave a sudden jolt. He immediately halted his sword. His two vacant eyes suddenly flickered with an unusual light as he stared at She Meier, mouth hanging open, unable to find the words.
She Meier, however, declared righteously:
“Limitless Adept, you need not harm yourself any further. Forgiveness is a virtue. I will wipe away today’s offense against me; I, She Meier, forgive you now! I hope you will conduct yourself properly in the future and prove worthy of the title ‘Adept.’ Master, let us go. We have proper business to attend to.”
“Good!” The Nine Heavens Fairy said, her mood suddenly brightening. “My Meier has grown up! Come, Meier.”
With that, she and She Meier employed the Clear Wind Dispersal escape art and departed from Returning Peak Monastery.
Only then did the Limitless Adept come to his senses. He let out a long breath. With a clang, the treasured sword that had been hovering in midair fell to the ground. Then he collapsed onto the floor like a pool of mud.
………………………………
Mount Zhongnan, Pure Void Monastery.
That morning, Yan Chixia, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, Song Ta’er, and the Pure Void Adept sat together in the dining hall, enjoying breakfast.
The meal was exceedingly sumptuous, every dish prepared personally by the Pure Void Adept. Yan Chixia had originally intended to activate that morning’s breakfast using the Paper Talisman Drawing Technique, but the Pure Void Adept wanted to give everyone a change of taste. Thus, he had risen especially early and cooked the meal himself.
The five master and disciples sat around the table, eating and chatting.
Tu Xiaomeng gazed at the Pure Void Adept with keen interest.
“Master, in eight more days, you and Brother Yan will be leaving for Mysterious Island. These past few days, I’ve been wondering what kinds of cultivation resources might be hidden inside the ancient ruins there. Master, you’ve seen so much of the world. Could you tell us what you think might be inside?”
“Heh heh.” The Pure Void Adept laughed heartily. “Clever One, although your master has seen much of the world and has entered several ancient ruins, the ruins on Mysterious Island are just as much a mystery to me as they are to all of you. The resources stored in every ruin are different…”
When Yan Chixia, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Song Ta’er heard this, they all gave an “Oh,” suddenly inspired. Each of them then began offering opinions based on their own understanding of ancient ruins.
Yan Chixia said enthusiastically:

“Master is absolutely right. I hope the ancient ruins on Mysterious Island contain cultivation resources similar to the Five-Colored Spirit Stones. If we obtain a great deal of such resources, everyone’s cultivation will progress twice as quickly with half the effort, greatly accelerating our advancement!”
“Exactly!” Bai Xiaoyue said excitedly. “If that happens, I’ll soon be able to enter the early Foundation Establishment stage!”
“Hee hee hee…” Tu Xiaomeng’s eyes curved into two crescent moons. “Sister Bai, your words are so encouraging! Master, Brother Yan, I have great faith in those ancient ruins on Mysterious Island! I firmly believe that when the time comes, you’ll make an enormous harvest and return laden with treasure…”
“Oh my, what a lively gathering!”
Before Tu Xiaomeng could finish, She Meier suddenly entered with a radiant smile.
The Pure Void Adept, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Song Ta’er all greeted her in turn.
Yan Chixia then said with a smile:
“She Meier, you’re here rather early today! Did you skip breakfast?”
“Exactly!” She Meier replied with a sweet smile. “Yan Chixia, you have a sharp eye!”
At once, Tu Xiaomeng called out:
“Sister, come sit here with me. We can have breakfast together.”
“Wonderful!”
She Meier agreed and went to sit beside Tu Xiaomeng. Seeing the sumptuous spread covering the table, she exclaimed:
“It really is better to arrive early than to arrive at the right time! I’m going to feast today!”
As she spoke, she picked up her chopsticks and was about to take some food when she suddenly paused.
“Huh? These dishes seem different from usual! Why don’t they look as though they came from Yan Chixia’s Paper Talisman Drawing?”
“Heh heh…” The Pure Void Adept laughed. “She Meier, you’re very observant. I prepared all these dishes myself. Taste them carefully and see how you find my cooking.”
“Really?” She Meier was both surprised and delighted. “Even an elder like you can cook? Hee hee… No wonder everything smells so delicious and appetizing!”
As she spoke, she picked up a piece of braised yellow mutton and placed it in her mouth. She chewed, then praised it without restraint:
“Mmm, fragrant—far too fragrant!”
“Heh heh…” Yan Chixia could not help laughing. “She Meier, if you say it’s fragrant, then it must be delicious. Since you like it, eat more. You’ll need plenty of energy for studying the Paper Talisman Drawing Technique later.”
She Meier had been eating with great relish, but upon hearing Yan Chixia’s final remark, her spirits immediately sank.
“Alas! The Paper Talisman Drawing Technique… the Paper Talisman Drawing Technique… Yan Chixia, Yue’er, Mengmeng, Song Ta’er, when will I finally learn it?”
Yan Chixia, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Song Ta’er exchanged awkward glances, unable to think of anything to say.
Seeing their expressions, She Meier suddenly burst out laughing.

“This topic is a little too heavy. None of you even dares to join in. All right, let’s drop it and talk about something more cheerful. Yue’er, Mengmeng, yesterday someone bullied me, and Master stood up for me and gave him what he deserved… It felt absolutely wonderful!”
“What?” Tu Xiaomeng stared at She Meier in astonishment. “Sister, you’re so formidable. Who would dare bully you? How could that be possible? Did that person grow a bear’s heart and a leopard’s courage?”
“Exactly!” Bai Xiaoyue asked with concern. “Sister, who bullied you?”
The Pure Void Adept, Yan Chixia, and Song Ta’er also turned their eyes toward She Meier.
She Meier replied:
“That person calls himself the Limitless Adept…”
“Oh, him?” the Pure Void Adept blurted out.
She Meier gave a little “Huh?” and immediately asked:
“You know the Limitless Adept, Elder?”
“Mhm.” The Pure Void Adept nodded. “The Limitless Adept lives in seclusion at Returning Peak Monastery on Mount Emei. He has cultivated for many years and is now at the late Soul Projection stage. His cultivation has reached a considerable level, but his character is disgraceful. He is a shameless lecher.”
“The Adept’s words are entirely accurate. That is exactly what happened,” She Meier replied.
She then recounted, in full detail, everything that had happened between herself and the Limitless Adept in front of Sun’s Medicine Shop the previous day.
When She Meier described how the Limitless Adept had shamelessly harassed her, Yan Chixia, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Song Ta’er all gnashed their teeth in anger.
When she described how the Limitless Adept had knelt and begged for mercy, Yan Chixia, Bai Xiaoyue, Tu Xiaomeng, and Song Ta’er all clapped their hands in delight.
And when She Meier recounted how she had said, “Forgiveness is a virtue,” and then forgiven the Limitless Adept, the Pure Void Adept praised her sincerely:
“She Meier, you did wonderfully! ‘Forgiveness is a virtue’—what a splendid thing to say! Danzi, Mingzi, Clever One, Red One, you must all remember those words: ‘Forgiveness is a virtue.’ In the future, whenever you encounter similar matters while out in the world, be broad-minded. Where it is possible to spare someone, spare them.”
