Chapter 58: A Kiss to Cure the Fear of Heights (Please Keep Reading)
Subject One, the theoretical exam.
All were multiple-choice questions, and for Zhang Long, who was practically a seasoned driver, the difficulty was minimal. Besides, he had spent a month studying at the driving school, following the curriculum, so he finished quickly.
One hundred questions, ninety-seven points. Not bad.
...
"Phew, that was close."
Leaving the exam room, Lin Yuan wiped the nervous sweat from his brow. "Ninety points, just passed the threshold. Scary."
Zhang Long simply observed. In truth, if Lin Yuan had connections, he wouldn’t even need to take the test or learn to drive—he could get a license without effort. Judging by his clothes and demeanor, he was clearly from a wealthy background.
Though a bit socially bold and somewhat offbeat, he definitely wasn’t from an ordinary family.
"Brother, let's go have some fun."
Relieved that he’d passed Subject One, Lin Yuan slung his arm around Zhang Long’s shoulder. "I’ll head back to get ready. How about we meet at four this afternoon?"
"Uh, I have plans later."
Zhang Long shook his head outright. "Maybe another time. I’ve already arranged to meet my girlfriend this afternoon."
"What? You have a girlfriend?"
Lin Yuan was instantly intrigued, clicking his tongue as he sized Zhang Long up. "You hid that well. But since you have a girlfriend, clubbing and chasing women wouldn’t be suitable. Pity—so young and already tied down. Guess I’ll wait until you break up and you’re single again."
Zhang Long broke out in a cold sweat at the comment. What kind of logic was that? Not only did Lin Yuan skip offering congratulations, he even predicted doom.
This person was not someone to get close to—clearly mentally eccentric.
"Hey, just kidding."
Lin Yuan laughed heartily. "I wish you and your girl a long, happy life together. But honestly, brother, unless you marry, having a girlfriend doesn’t really matter. Love isn’t reliable—once you’re well-fed, your desires multiply. Now isn’t the time to seek true love; it’s too early."
"Alright, enough said."
Lin Yuan wrapped up, "If you ever feel bored, give me a call. I'll take you out for a wild night—whether it’s club models or college girls, take your pick."
"Goodbye, see you around."
...
For their date, Zhang Long didn't invite her to his home.
This time he took the initiative to ask Luo Man out, so he chose the amusement park where she had previously suggested meeting. Both were familiar with the place, and they met punctually in the afternoon.
"Why did you choose here?"
By mid-November, the city’s weather was distinctly chilly. Luo Man wore a stylish women’s trench coat, jeans, and little leather boots—her look was crisp and striking, very attractive.
Zhang Long’s attire was plain; though not cheap, it wasn’t particularly upscale either.
Eat well, drink well, dress as you like.
"It’s nice—fewer people."
Zhang Long smiled gently. Today was cloudy, with a light breeze, and the sun managed to filter through the clouds. Being Tuesday, the amusement park wasn’t crowded; even the most popular attractions didn’t require queuing, unlike weekends with their endless lines.
Of course, today’s main purpose wasn’t amusement. The two hadn’t spent time together for quite a while, usually chatting online or via video calls—almost like being in a long-distance relationship.
So they didn’t plan on any adrenaline-fueled rides, sticking to carousel horses, shooting games, ring toss—simple pleasures.
"Your hand’s a bit cold."
Zhang Long held Luo Man’s hand, feeling its coolness—not just from the weather, for even back in September when it was still warm, her hands were always cool.
"Mm, that’s normal."
Luo Man’s beautiful eyes curved into a smile. "Girls are generally yin and tend to be cooler; boys are yang."
"By the way, is Fan Lu’s hand cold?"
Luo Man suddenly shifted the topic, making Zhang Long sweat a little. He wasn’t his former self—having crossed over, he’d never experienced it and couldn’t possibly know. What a pity.
"Utterly cold, absolutely."
Zhang Long glanced at Luo Man and tightened his hold on her small hand, his meaning obvious.
No need for jealousy over cold hands.
Eat too much vinegar, and you’ll end up cold yourself.
...
"Wang, pay special attention."
"Cloud Bee Technology hit the daily limit as soon as the market opened. Tomorrow morning, we need to keep a close eye; if an opportunity arises, we must seize it—can’t miss out."
"Grab a taste, then pull out."
Sheng Xin, Chang Song was busy making calls.
Since yesterday afternoon, he’d been prepping all clients about Cloud Bee Technology’s surging stock. Regardless of the final outcome after chasing gains, he informed clients of both opportunities and risks—at least the reasoning was sound.
The stock recommendations from the company today showed no promising trends. Even those at technical or price support levels were stagnant.
Thus, comparatively, pushing Cloud Bee Technology was preferable, allowing thorough communication with clients.
Two days of price limit increases—who knows if it’ll surge again tomorrow? All they could do was ensure funds were ready, charge accounts as needed.
After all, without money in the account, what could one do?
There were results—clients added funds both morning and afternoon, waiting.
Chasing highs and selling lows is a cardinal sin in stock trading, but circumstances differ; not every situation is a trap.
"Liu..."
"Remember Sister Feng, who opened an account and deposited funds with you? She added five hundred thousand today. Cloud Bee Technology won’t keep surging forever, but after the streak ends, it’s sure to keep pushing higher. It’s an opportunity."
"Are we just going to let it slip by?"
Chang Song, dry-mouthed and earnest, communicated with clients, citing opportunities and profits to stimulate more deposits—motivating himself to work harder.
Many clients had previously added funds through Zhang Long, proving they had money to spare.
So, no reason to hesitate. Go for it!
...
"Uh, let’s leave that one be."
Chang Song skipped over Zhang Lizhen’s name. Though she’d been upgraded to Gold Analyst service, some routine communications still required his assistance.
With the end of the month approaching and her due date imminent, he refrained from calling—who knows what might happen if she got overly excited?
He shivered—he couldn't bear that responsibility.
...
"Ooh, hoo~"
Amusement park, on the Ferris wheel.
While the traders at Sheng Xin were busy calling clients for more funds or other matters, Zhang Long was thoroughly relaxed—enjoying himself to the fullest.
So much so, that when their cabin reached the higher point, he pulled Luo Man close and kissed her.
Pressed against the seat, he kissed her lips.
"Hah, hah~"
Zhang Long panted lightly. Luo Man, blushing, closed her eyes and let him do as he pleased. At this moment, his acrophobia vanished—he was too busy kissing to feel afraid.
"Next time, let’s try strawberry flavor."
Zhang Long smacked his lips. Luo Man was chewing mint gum; he had watermelon flavor—so this deep kiss was quite enjoyable.
"Hmph, I won’t come next time."
Luo Man opened her eyes slightly. The Ferris wheel was descending, and kissing now wasn’t appropriate.
Wouldn't want the adjacent cabins to see.
"That won’t do—I need treatment."
Zhang Long pulled Luo Man into his arms, clicking his tongue. "You said I should ride more to cure my fear of heights. Today was the first official treatment, right? At least ten sessions make a full course, don’t you think?"
"Next time, let’s ride at night."
"Hmph, I refuse."
Luo Man buried her head in Zhang Long’s shoulder, whispering, "Nighttime is dark—who knows what else you’d try to do? I can’t let you have your way."
"And it’s still so cold."
Hearing this, Zhang Long gently turned her head and grinned, "As long as it’s not cold, that’s fine, right?"
"Come to my place tonight—I have a cat that does backflips. Want to see?"
"Don’t worry—I promise I won’t do anything bad."
