6 Zombie Experience Cards 06
After watering back and forth several times, the relationship between Tian Yi and the climbing vine visibly improved.
Tian Yi was unaware of other flora and fauna, but the vine responded remarkably quickly.
Early in the morning, before the door was even open, Tian Yi sensed something was amiss outside. It felt as if something was pressing against the door.
Normally, the little orange tabby cat slept soundly, but today it was restless, pacing by the door at dawn with a face full of menace.
Tian Yi didn’t understand what had gotten into the cat but walked toward the door anyway.
Before opening it, Tian Yi peered through the crack and saw what was pressing against the door—a zombie, long dead and decayed.
Beyond this single zombie, Tian Yi noticed several more lined up neatly on the ground, though the limited view prevented an exact count.
Ordinary zombies usually ignored Tian Yi and wouldn’t behave this way according to their typical patterns.
For a moment, Tian Yi even feared the vine had been attacked.
But all these zombies were dead; through the window, Tian Yi could still see the vine as peaceful as ever.
Tian Yi opened the door with a bang, causing the zombie blocking it to fall.
Behind it, the other zombies formed a tight blockade across the already narrow entrance.
Tian Yi’s gaze swept over the zombies and the details on the ground, confirming one thing: there was a strong likelihood the vine had placed them there.
That explained the unusual noises from the vine the previous night—it had specifically caught and arranged a bunch of zombies at Tian Yi’s door.
Tian Yi was momentarily at a loss for words.
Why would the vine leave so many zombies outside his door?
Of course, it was to share food!
This fierce vine was much different from what Tian Yi had imagined.
At first, Tian Yi worried the vine might “accidentally” eat him once it grew displeased or no longer needed him, just like in those cinematic tales.
In many stories, those too close to a villain or monster often meet a grim fate at their hands.
But this vine... was it perhaps too innocent?
After staring at the dead zombies for a while, Tian Yi no longer hesitated.
He turned around, took out a fire axe, skillfully extracted the transparent crystals from the zombies’ skulls, and, as usual, tossed the bodies to the vine as fertilizer.
However, the vine did not accept the fertilizer as briskly as before.
Instead, it seemed confused, then wrapped one zombie corpse in its tendrils and pushed it back a short distance from Tian Yi.
Its slender tendrils, adorned with lush green leaves, repeatedly patted the zombie’s body in front of Tian Yi, as if trying to sell him on the quality of the corpse.
Perhaps the zombie bodies were indeed excellent fertilizer for the vine, but Tian Yi had no interest.
Unsure if the vine could understand, Tian Yi shook his head, gestured no, and turned to run away.
The silent vine could only watch as the zombie corpse was dragged back and buried.
