Volume 1, Chapter 15: The Seven Heroes of Starsea City
Wang Li, in his twenties, was the second son of Wang Daqiang, an intellectual. Despite wearing a cotton-padded jacket in the bitter winter, his frail body could not withstand the cold, and his face was streaked with tears and snot.
“What does Wang Peng want with me?” Lin Yun wanted to ask more clearly.
Wang Li shook his head, unaware of the details. He only urged Lin Yun to hurry to Jiuqu Village outside the city, saying Wang Peng had urgent business with him, then clutched his books and hurried off.
Lin Yun rolled his eyes and let him leave.
“What on earth is Wang Peng up to? Not returning to prison but instead asking me to meet him at a dilapidated temple outside the city? My orientation is perfectly normal,” Lin Yun thought, puzzled and unable to fathom Wang Peng’s motives.
Still, he decided to go see what Wang Peng wanted.
Lin Yun was now a powerful third-tier superhuman, his "Flames Engulfing the Body" skill had reached level six, and his human-level Asura blade technique was at its peak. A thousand Wang Pengs wouldn’t harm him a hair!
In the outskirts of Xinghai City, at Jiuqu Village, inside a dilapidated Mountain God temple, Wang Peng cowered beneath a broken statue like a frightened rabbit. His eye sockets were sunken, his face pale, as if his soul had been drained.
Not far from him, four oddly dressed individuals gathered, conspiring.
“I’ve checked. The first level defenses of the superhuman prison are weak, usually guarded outside by only a small team of superhuman security agents.”
“The strongest among them is only a high-level superhuman...”
“Boss, stop hesitating! We charge straight in and rescue Number Six!”
“Are you crazy? That place is a government stronghold, full of powerful beings!”
“We can’t alert the security or the superhuman special ops. If we do, we’ll be dead before even seeing Number Six!”
“Third Sister’s right. We infiltrate first, find Number Six, then plan our breakout.”
As they spoke, a bald man with shining skin and sharp teeth suddenly turned and growled at Wang Peng huddled in the corner: “Kid! When’s that guy coming? You didn’t even try to find him, did you? If you’re lying, I’ll tear you apart right now!”
Wang Peng was terrified, collapsing to his knees with a thud, bowing his head as he pleaded, “I looked! I really did! I even sent my second brother to find him!”
“Alright, Fourth Brother, don’t scare him,” a woman among them scolded the sharp-toothed man. “I quietly followed him when he left. He didn’t lie.”
The woman wore a fiery red dress, her figure exquisite, her skin pale and flawless. Wang Peng swallowed nervously as he gazed at her.
She turned gently to Wang Peng, her voice as soft as dripping water: “Little brother, the person you mentioned—can he really help us get into the prison?”
She twirled a strand of her hair and gave Wang Peng a flirtatious wink.
Wang Peng lowered his head as if shocked by an electric shock, unable to meet her gaze.
He had been with these people long enough to know their cruelty firsthand.
He had seen the red-dressed woman capture seven or eight burly men and torment them for three days.
After draining them, she would even dig into their hearts and feast—a she-demon disguised as a beauty, utterly terrifying.
The Seven Tyrants of Xinghai City were all ruthless and wicked figures.
“My friend inside the prison has quite the connections. I heard he’s even related to a former captain,” Wang Peng said in a trembling voice, on the verge of collapse. “It’s impossible for me to bring anyone in directly, but if it’s him... bringing people in might be... possible.”
“Hopefully,” the sharp-toothed man sneered, revealing a terrifying grimace that made Wang Peng shiver again.
The leader, a handsome middle-aged man with a refined demeanor, spoke softly to comfort him: “Little brother Wang, if you really help us rescue Sixth Brother, you’ll become a friend to the Seven Tyrants of Xinghai City. Wealth and glory will be yours without end. If you want superhuman skills, we will teach you everything, and even invite you to join us, taking the place of a fallen brother...”
These words made Wang Peng’s heart race.
He knew these people were cruel, but their strength was undeniable. He had witnessed it himself.
If he could join them, learn superhuman powers, wouldn’t his life improve? Which passionate young man didn’t dream of becoming powerful?
Lost in his fantasies, Wang Peng failed to notice the mocking and derisive glances exchanged among the Seven Tyrants.
Just as Wang Peng indulged in his daydreams, the expressions of the four inside the temple abruptly changed.
The sharp-toothed man suddenly darted to the door, his gaze sweeping outside like lightning before turning back with a sinister smile: “Someone’s coming.”
The others’ eyes sparkled sharply. The refined middle-aged man grabbed Wang Peng and strode to the temple entrance.
They all stared coldly outside.
Outside the broken temple door, a handsome young man strolled leisurely, looking around like a tourist out for a walk.
“Is it him?” the refined man whispered with a cold sneer, scrutinizing Wang Peng.
“Yes, it’s him,” Wang Peng nodded rapidly, clearly relieved at Lin Yun’s arrival.
The woman in the red dress cast greedy eyes on Lin Yun, licking her lips and rubbing her legs restlessly: “This handsome guy is so good-looking. I want to play with him for days and nights...”
“As long as the mission succeeds, you can do whatever you want,” the refined man said, waving his hand and tossing Wang Peng out like trash.
“Ouch!” Wang Peng was caught off guard, shrieking as he landed outside the temple in a pitiful state.
“Wang Peng, what’s so urgent that you asked me out?”
Lin Yun’s voice brimmed with suspicion.
“Lin... Brother Lin...” Wang Peng stammered, eyes flickering nervously, unable to meet Lin Yun’s gaze.
Lin Yun’s eyes casually scanned the depths of the temple, his tone calm: “If there’s nothing, I’m leaving.”
“Brother Lin, don’t go!” Wang Peng jumped up in panic, desperately trying to stop him.
At that moment, several figures emerged slowly from the temple’s shadows.
The leader, the refined man, smiled cruelly, his eyes venomous.
Behind him stood a thin figure in black, like a grim reaper.
Next came the alluring woman in the fiery red dress, her laughter sharp as a silver bell.
Lastly, the bald man with tusks, his face monstrous like a demon from hell.
The four sneered as they stared at Lin Yun like hunters surveying trapped prey.
Seeing them emerge, Wang Peng gained confidence, straightening up to face Lin Yun: “Lin Yun, these are four of the top experts among the Seven Tyrants of Xinghai City! They came to ask for a small favor...”
“Rescue Cao Feng?” Lin Yun stated bluntly, his tone icy.
The refined man gave a fake smile: “Smart kid. I like dealing with clever people.”
Lin Yun glanced coldly at the man surnamed Jin, then turned to Wang Peng, his voice firm and uncompromising: “Wang Peng, come here! I’ll say this once—come with me now, and I’ll pretend I never knew about this.”
“Hahaha...” Before Lin Yun finished, the sharp-toothed man and the woman in red burst into loud laughter, as if hearing the greatest joke in the world.
“Is this kid crazy? Pretending we don’t exist?”
The woman laughed uproariously, her ample bosom heaving, catching the sharp-toothed man’s full attention.
The refined man and the black-clad figure looked on with disdain, as if observing a dead man.
Lin Yun ignored them all, his blazing gaze fixed on Wang Peng, awaiting his answer.
Wang Peng took a step back, face contorted with despair: “Brother Lin, please help them! Otherwise, we both might die right here...”
Lin Yun sighed deeply, a flash of disappointment crossing his eyes.
This kid was utterly hopeless.
