Volume One, Chapter 13: Finding a Way to Descend to the Lower Level
Lin Yun allocated all 100,000 experience points to his strength, immediately feeling his supernatural power surge violently within him, its intensity skyrocketing several times over! Before he could even adjust to this overwhelming power, it quickly retracted back into his body.
In the blink of an eye, the space inside Lin Yun’s body reserved for storing supernatural power swelled to an alarming degree. Such an immense amount of power was crammed into such a tiny space, teetering on the verge of overflowing.
Suddenly, the wild energy in the center collapsed inward with a tremendous rumble!
Lin Yun felt as though the space inside his body was about to explode, like countless beasts colliding fiercely, shaking the very foundations of the world.
After an uncertain amount of time, the violent energy finally calmed.
He quickly focused inward and saw a white vortex spinning wildly within that space. He attempted to channel his supernatural power, causing the vortex to spin faster, and the power surged in like a flood, filling the space in an instant.
“Hahaha! The quality of this power is at least ten times stronger than before! Is this the strength of a super-powered individual? It’s a world apart from an advanced user!” Lin Yun exclaimed in ecstasy. He felt that even if he faced ten versions of his former self, victory would be effortless.
Suddenly, his skin tingled as if countless ants were crawling over him, unbearably itchy. When he touched his face, he rubbed off a large patch of bloodstained grime.
“Damn! Did the supernatural power purge the old blood from inside me?!” Lin Yun trembled with excitement, eager to find a master to spar with immediately.
He hurriedly checked his personal information:

- “Inner Radiance Restraint (Level 5)”—Mastery (761/10000)

“Damn! After reaching super-powered status, each level up requires hundreds of thousands of experience points. This is insane...” Lin Yun twitched at the corner of his eye as he stared at the screen.
At his current rate of gaining experience daily, it would take at least seven or eight months to reach the pinnacle of supernatural power.
He thought it was still a bit slow and muttered quietly, “If only it could be faster…”
The problem was that almost all the criminals on the first level of the supernatural prison had been recorded in his “Warden’s Demon Codex” by now, leaving little opportunity. Unless the Supernatural Security Bureau suddenly improved their efficiency and captured a batch of ruthless criminals, there was no way for him to speed up.
“Wait!” A flash of inspiration struck Lin Yun. “Did I forget something important?”
This supernatural prison wasn’t just one level!
Outside, there were two pillars supporting Xinghai City: the Supernatural Security Bureau and the Supernatural Special Operations Bureau.
Yet, despite being here for so long, he had never even glimpsed the Special Operations Bureau.
The Special Operations Bureau specialized in capturing demons and monsters, but the first level of the prison never held non-human criminals. Everyone knew those special criminals were surely locked up in the lower levels of the supernatural prison.
Ferocious old fiends like Leng Cang were definitely detained in the lower prison levels!
If he could somehow transfer to the lower levels, wouldn’t his experience points skyrocket?
“This needs careful thought; there’s no rush…” Lin Yun smiled calmly, confident that opportunities would come.
“Brother Yun! Good morning!” As he entered the prison area, a young prison guard greeted him warmly.
This young man was Wang Peng, the son of veteran guard Wang Daqiang.
“Good morning!” Lin Yun smiled in return.
Wang Daqiang had three sons: the eldest was a hunter, the second an intellectual. After Wang Daqiang died, his position was left vacant. Neither of the older two sons wanted to take over, so the youngest, Wang Peng, who often just wandered the streets, was pushed forward.
Wang Peng was two years younger than Lin Yun and would eagerly follow him around, calling him “brother.”
Remembering how Wang Daqiang had treated him kindly before, Lin Yun often looked out for Wang Peng. In the prison, they had a close relationship.
“Wang Peng! If you’ve got the guts, kill me! When my buddies come, we’ll chop you and your gang into pieces to feed to the dogs!” Just as Lin Yun sat down, before he could even take a sip of tea, screams and curses erupted from the interrogation room.
The noise was so intense it seemed to shake the ceiling.
He glanced toward the interrogation room and asked Wang Peng, “Who’s suffering in there so early?”
Wang Peng chuckled and leaned in, whispering, “It’s the one who claims to be the sixth member of the Seven Fierce Ones of Xinghai City, brought in last night by the Supernatural Security Bureau.”
“The captain personally interrogated him for a long time. Guess what? They changed the torturers several times, but this guy still stays so spirited. He’s a real tough guy…”
The Seven Fierce Ones of Xinghai City?!
Lin Yun thought carefully and seemed to have heard the name in the news before. In the prison, some criminals also mentioned that the city had seven killers who showed no mercy and were incredibly powerful and ruthless—hence the infamous nickname.
He hadn’t expected the Supernatural Security Bureau to have captured one of them.
But on the other hand, these guys deserved it.
The louder their reputation in the news, the more likely they were to be targeted by the government and the Security Bureau.
As the saying goes, the nail that sticks out gets hammered down. If not you, then who?
Everyone who lives by the streets will face such a day sooner or later.
The creaking of the interrogation room door finally broke the silence after a long wait.
The captain emerged with a dark expression.
Lin Yun and Wang Peng quickly stood up, but before they could salute, the captain left like a gust of wind.
Following him were the guards involved in the interrogation, all drenched in sweat, massaging their arms and shoulders, clearly exhausted.
“Lin Yun, the guy’s in your hands now,” an old guard said with a wry smile, pointing to the interrogation room. “This guy’s got bones of steel. He broke seven or eight sets of our torture devices, and our hands are too sore to move. We really have no strength left to deal with him…”
“Thanks for your hard work.” Lin Yun asked which cell the prisoner would be housed in and then invited Wang Peng to follow him inside.
As soon as they entered, they saw a burly man chained to the interrogation rack, with iron chains piercing his scapulae, glaring at them viciously.
The man’s eyes were fierce and ruthless, like a vulture eyeing its prey. Just one glance sent chills down their spines.
He looked like a true fiend.
Wang Peng’s legs went weak, and he trembled as he stepped back two paces.
Lin Yun, however, remained calm. He strode forward, pulled the man down from the rack, and then locked him in shackles.
“Heh heh,” the burly man rolled his eyes and spat a mouthful of blood and phlegm right at Lin Yun’s face.
Lin Yun leaned forward just in time to avoid the thick spit.
Poor Wang Peng behind him wasn’t so lucky; he was hit square in the face and retched in disgust.
“Ha ha ha!” The burly man’s laughter shook his whole body, exuding supreme arrogance.
