Chapter 40: Brother, They’re Bullying Me!
"Luo Yuxin, aren't you going to make a move yet?!"
Zhou Yi screamed again.
"Don't call me!" Luo Yuxin curled his lips and said, "Two against one, and you still got beaten. Now you want me to join in and gang up on him? I can't bring myself to stoop that low."
Zhou Yi gritted his teeth. "Luo Yuxin, I'm telling you, this guy is probably a Berserker. He can only burst out for a short while. Once that's over, he'll be weak as a kitten. You won't even get a chance to fight him if you wait."
A flicker of interest crossed Luo Yuxin's face.
Berserker? He stared at Zhao Junhong, his eyes gradually lighting up, a restless itch in his heart.
Such a physique was rare indeed.
Even if he wasn't, Zhao Junhong's current state alone was worth a challenge.
After two more scrutinizing glances at Zhao Junhong, Luo Yuxin could no longer hold back. He hefted his heavy machine gun and charged forward.
"You bastard! Just a moment ago you were talking about your high-minded principles, and now you're joining forces to gang up on me? You shameless scoundrel!"
Zhao Junhong couldn't help but curse out loud.
"Heh, you're quite amusing," Luo Yuxin sneered. "Come on, let me test your strength."
"Shameless! Have you no face at all? Once word gets out about what you've done today, what will people think of you?"
"I, Luo Yuxin, don't answer to anyone for what I do. I find you interesting, so I want to fight you. Whether you like it or not, you'll have to accept it!"
Luo Yuxin let out a hearty laugh, raised the heavy machine gun, and prepared to fire.
"Damn it!"
Zhao Junhong cursed under his breath, slashed twice to force Zhou Yi and Zhang Jinyi back, then turned to run.
"Ratatatat!"
Luo Yuxin's heavy machine gun spat fire.
Bullets rained toward Zhao Junhong.
Zhao Junhong pushed himself to the limit, barely managing to dodge behind a thick tree, his face ashen.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that these three, who couldn't stand each other, would join forces against him.
If he'd known, he'd have run away from the very start!
Who would have thought even this thick-browed, honest-looking guy would play such tricks?
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jinyi were nearly hit by stray bullets.
After dodging out of the way, the two shot Luo Yuxin dissatisfied looks.
"You two, get in there!" Luo Yuxin said carelessly, laughing. "Force him out—I've got a score to settle with him one-on-one."
He patted the bullet belts wrapped around his body. "I'm running low on ammo, need to conserve a bit, or I'll end up blasting these trees apart."
Zhou Yi and Zhang Jinyi's faces twitched.
Looking at those belts coiled round and round, did he really dare claim he was almost out of bullets? With the third tidal shift about to begin, he had at least a thousand rounds left—how could that not be enough?
What else was he planning?
Still, it was pointless to argue with a lunatic like Luo Yuxin.
Force the target out; after that, it would have nothing to do with them.
"Damn it!"
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Zhao Junhong gave a helpless sigh.
Looks like he was about to be eliminated.
What a pity—the gap in strength was just too wide; he couldn't even drag someone down with him on his way out.
No chance at the third tidal shift, then.
Still, with everything he'd accumulated so far, he was sure to become a martial artist.
Zhao Junhong held his breath and tightened his grip on his blade.
One last strike—maybe he could give someone a memory they'd never forget.
"Hm?" Zhou Yi and Zhang Jinyi paused as well.
In that instant, with Zhao Junhong's breath stilled, he radiated an aura of deadly danger.
Was he preparing for a final, desperate outburst?
Zhang Jinyi hesitated.
Zhou Yi said coldly, "Let's go together. If you don't cooperate now, don't expect me to help you later."
"Hmph!" Zhang Jinyi snorted and advanced alongside Zhou Yi, weapons gripped tightly, ready to attack at any moment.
Zhao Junhong silently calculated his odds.
All three were preparing their fiercest strike.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang bang!"
Just as the three were ready to attack, heavy footsteps sounded, accompanied by an atrocious singing voice.
"I want to fly higher..."
"Damn!"
Zhao Junhong froze. That wailing, funereal singing could only belong to one person.
The final exam was almost over—how could he run into him now, of all times? And here, of all places!
If only he'd run into him earlier, things wouldn’t have turned out this way!
Without thinking, Zhao Junhong shouted in the direction of the singing voice, "Fang Qingyun, run! There's—"
His words caught in his throat.
Zhou Yi, Luo Yuxin, and Zhang Jinyi were all stunned as well.
Zhao Junhong was quickest to react. Instantly changing his tune, he put on a pitiful expression and wailed, "Brother, they're bullying me! You have to help me get revenge!"
The newcomer was none other than Fang Qingyun.
Except, his current state left everyone dumbstruck.
Quite a few people watching through the surveillance feeds were holding their heads in disbelief.
Fang Qingyun rode atop a jet-black lion, gripping a bloodstained long blade, looking regal and imposing, all while belting out his song.
Beside him walked a young woman with long white hair, stunningly beautiful and graceful.
She held a parasol woven from grass and leaves, following Fang Qingyun with a face devoid of expression.
What on earth was happening?
That girl—Luo Yuxin and the others all recognized her. She was the very Murong that Zhang Jinyi couldn't stop thinking about.
She was a true daughter of nobility.
Her father was the most powerful and influential noble in the Aoki District; her looks and cultivation talent were both unmatched.
People called her the Princess of Aoki District.
She lived surrounded by respect and adoration—envy and jealousy seemed to have vanished altogether.
After all, who could bring themselves to envy a goddess?
And now, this same woman was holding a parasol for some guy who seemed to come out of nowhere?
Even Luo Yuxin could only think: The world has gone mad.
Who could have guessed, when Zhao Junhong started shouting, that Luo Yuxin and the others would assume it was one of his friends coming to help, someone easy enough to take care of.
But the bizarre scene that appeared left all three of them frozen in place.
It felt as if their minds had split open.
"Murong, what's happened to you?" Zhang Jinyi couldn't help calling out, about to rush forward.
"Roar!"
The black lion let out an angry bellow and swiped a paw at the approaching Zhang Jinyi.
Boom!
The paw missed, but where it struck the earth, it left a pit a meter wide and half a meter deep.
The corners of everyone's mouths twitched again.
So this was a true demon beast—not some half-demon hybrid!
At that moment, Fang Qingyun lazily drawled, "Little Zhao, who bullied you? Come, your brother will avenge you."
"Still playing it up!" Zhao Junhong rolled his eyes, pointing at the three. "Be careful with these guys—they're all near-martial artists. Especially the one with the machine gun in the middle—need I say more about how dangerous he is?"
"So what if they're near-martial artists?" Fang Qingyun sneered, pointing at the girl beside him. "She's a near-martial artist too, and she's my maid now."
Murong shot Fang Qingyun a cold look.
Fang Qingyun met her gaze, his eyes equally cold.
In the end, the girl slowly lowered her head.
Luo Yuxin took a deep breath, raised his heavy machine gun, and said calmly, "Murong, what's going on? Did he force you?"
Murong stared at him icily, her clear, cool voice ringing out: "And if he did? Could you beat him?"
At that, Zhang Jinyi couldn't hold back anymore and shouted, "Let Murong go!"
Swish!
Two throwing knives flew straight at Fang Qingyun.
