Wei Ming's Educational Challenges
Until Xia’s father looked at the child who was sitting quietly but whose eyes darted around nervously, he suddenly understood the meaning behind his daughter’s words. This child had likely been led astray by someone.
Sure enough, after Xia’s father told the father and son not to come looking for his daughter anymore, the child, who had been sitting quietly on the sofa, suddenly jumped up and began to shout and make a scene.
“You terrible man, why won’t you let me see my mom!”
“I want to see my mom! I want mom to come home with us!”
“Mom, Mom, where are you?”
Watching Wei Ming run around wildly, shouting, Xia’s father did not order the servants to stop him. Instead, he gazed meaningfully at Wei Xunzhou nearby.
For the first time, Wei Xunzhou felt ashamed because of his child.
He suddenly recalled what Xia Mengge had said long ago about disciplining children.
He had said the child was still young, so why be so strict?
At that time, Xia Mengge had strongly opposed him, asking what would happen if the child made a serious mistake in the future.
Back then, he had been indifferent, but now he regretted it deeply.
Wei Xunzhou instinctively reached out to grab his unruly son, but Wei Ming slipped away like a slippery eel, escaping his grasp time and again.
“Wei Ming!” Wei Xunzhou’s face darkened instantly as he scolded his son loudly.
The next second, Wei Ming stiffened, then looked at him cautiously. “Dad…”
“Come here!”
Only when Wei Ming stood by Wei Xunzhou’s side again did Xia’s father continue speaking leisurely.
“Do you know, if my daughter hadn’t been taken to your world by that system, she would have an exceptionally outstanding husband and an exceptionally well-behaved child by now.”
Xia’s father nodded to the butler beside him, who immediately understood and switched on a massive TV screen.
Twenty full pages appeared, listing the final candidates for Xia Mengge’s fiancé. Each individual, standing alone, was far superior to Wei Xunzhou in every respect.
“Do you realize,” Xia’s father said slowly, sipping his tea, “if you lived in this world, you wouldn’t even make it onto the preliminary selection list?”
He then instructed the butler to turn the page.
“Our family’s children choose their fiancés or fiancées at their coming-of-age ceremony.”
“These are the candidates my daughter favored before she was taken by the system.”
“Since Mengge prefers daughters, we even speculated on what their future daughter might look like based on the appearances of her and her fiancé candidates.”
Suddenly, two enlarged photos appeared on the enormous screen, catching the eyes of the father and son.
The man in the left photo was unlike Wei Xunzhou’s cold demeanor; his eyes crinkled with a smile, and his gaze toward the camera was exceptionally gentle. The girl in the right photo had a particularly sweet appearance, immediately inspiring joy in anyone who saw her.
These two people in the photos looked down on them from above.
For some reason, Wei Xunzhou felt disdain emanating from their eyes.
His hands clenched tightly by his sides, his eyes flickering with complex emotions.
Beside him, Wei Ming was frightened by the oppressive atmosphere, pressing his small body tightly against Wei Xunzhou, no longer daring to make a sound.
But Xia’s father was not going to let the father and son off so easily.
At first, Xia’s father had planned to hand Wei Xunzhou and Wei Ming over to the Special Bureau for processing.
The entire Xia family would temporarily relocate to the United States, returning only after the father and son were gone.
However, when he saw his daughter slump into a chair, pale and drenched in sweat, Xia’s father changed his mind.
There are many ways to make someone lose hope, but the most painful is to let them see what they desire yet never attain it.
So, upon learning that Wei Xunzhou and Wei Ming had appeared, he immediately ordered the butler to bring them over.
He intended to use every fact available to show this father and son that no matter what they did, they were unworthy of his daughter. On the contrary, they were the people his daughter most dreaded mentioning in her entire life.
After seeing the expressions on the father and son’s faces that he wanted, Xia’s father felt slightly better, but this was only the beginning.
