Chapter 35: Emperor Jun and the Eastern Emperor
With the acquisition of the Violet River Star Sand, the overall situation was now settled.
The twelve Progenitor Witches of the Wu Clan did not conceal anything from Fuxi and Nuwa, and openly explained the matter regarding the Heavenly Axe.
“So that's how it is!”
Enlightenment dawned on Fuxi and Nuwa. They had wondered—this world of the Great Desolation was abundant with wondrous treasures, and there was no shortage of divine materials fit for forging Post-Heavenly Spirit Treasures. The Violet River Star Sand of the Ninefold Heavens was not absolutely indispensable!
Who could have thought that there was such a hidden reason behind it all?
“Everyone!” Fuxi carefully weighed his words in his heart, then suddenly spoke, “This time, my sister and I indeed traded with the ten Primeval Gods and Demons and obtained enough Violet River Star Sand. However, there is something you all may not know.”
Fuxi smiled wryly. “Owing to the great benefits these ten Primeval Gods and Demons received from us, more than one among them has visited the Ninefold Heavens again, seeking even more Violet River Star Sand. This must have already drawn the attention of Di Jun and the Eastern Emperor Taiyi.”
As he finished speaking, Fuxi drew from his sleeve an object resembling a tortoise shell.
Addressing the group, Fuxi explained, “This is a tool I developed after delving into the Dao of Life and Death—a form of the Dao of Change. With it, one may divine the will of Heaven, explore destiny, avert calamity, and search for spiritual treasures...”
“Whatever reaction the Ninefold Heavens may have, one divination will reveal it!”
“A method so wondrous?” Houtu could not help but show her amazement. “Who would have thought that Fuxi, too, cultivated the Dao of Life and Death!”
The three began discussing their own cultivated Daos.
It was at this point that they each came to understand: Fuxi’s innate authority lay in the Dao of Life and Death. Yet, he had evolved the Gates of Life and Death from it, using these as a foundation to extrapolate the mysteries of Heaven and Earth, and from the Dao of Life and Death, he had further developed the grand principles of the Eight Trigrams.
Nuwa’s innate authority was over the Dao of Earth. However, with her celestial mandate, she found it effortless to comprehend her own unique Dao of Creation using the Dao of Earth as a base.
Houtu, too, wielded the Dao of Earth, and had so far only comprehended her own Dao of Life and Death. As for the Dao of Reincarnation, she was merely on the verge of it, awaiting a crucial opportunity.
Their discussion of the Dao brought them each considerable insight.
…
Not long after, Fuxi’s divination was complete.
Fuxi smiled. “As I suspected, my guess was correct.”
“Di Jun visited the ten Great Luo Gods and Demons, presenting them with some Violet River Star Sand as a lavish gift. Before long, several of them came bearing gifts to visit the Ninefold Heavens in return, subtly expressing their desire for even more Star Sand.”
“If it were only one or two, it would not matter much,” Fuxi said with a rueful smile. “The problem is—all ten of them went!”
“Ah!”
…
Not only the twelve Progenitor Witches but even Di Cang, upon hearing Fuxi’s explanation, was left speechless.
Never had he imagined that the illustrious Ten Demon Gods could behave so opportunistically! It was simply beyond his comprehension.
…
Fuxi continued, “Once Di Jun and Taiyi realize this, it will not take long before the trail leads back to the Wu Clan. Relations between the Wu Clan and the Ninefold Heavens are already strained, and this will only add fuel to the fire, making things spiral out of control!”
“My friends,” Fuxi spoke earnestly, “you must make preparations in advance.”
“The Ninefold Heavens—Di Jun and Taiyi?” When the twelve Progenitor Witches, Fuxi, and Nuwa mentioned the Ninefold Heavens and its rulers, Di Cang fell deep into thought.
…
As a transmigrator, how could Di Cang not know about Di Jun and Taiyi?
Why did the Wu Clan’s immense power so swiftly decline, eventually forcing them to withdraw into the cycle of reincarnation to defend themselves? The reason was the bitter struggle between the Wu Clan, led by the twelve Progenitor Witches, and the Demon Clan, headed by Di Jun and Taiyi!
Both clans were gravely wounded in the conflict, leading to their mutual decline, and the Four Great Sects gradually rose to dominate the world of the Great Desolation.
Di Cang pondered deeply.
At this moment, when faced with Di Jun and Taiyi, he and the Wu Clan had only two choices.
First, while Di Jun had yet to marry Xi He, and before Di Jun, Taiyi, Xi He, and Kunpeng had obtained the method of Severing the Three Corpses, while the Ninefold Heavens remained weak, they could muster all their might and directly attack, wiping out the future legend and threat that was the Ninefold Heavens.
In this way, the greatest threat to the Wu Clan in the coming catastrophe would be eliminated! Perhaps, this could even resolve the life-and-death calamity underlying the disaster.
However, this idea was dismissed almost immediately by Di Cang.
Though Di Jun and Taiyi were still weak, they were, after all, Three-Legged Golden Crows, in charge of the alternation of day and night throughout the Great Desolation. How could such ancient gods be so easily slain?
More importantly, soon the Dao Ancestor would attain enlightenment, and many mighty beings would emerge in the world—including even those at the Hunyuan Da Luo Golden Immortal level. The Great Desolation was not a place for the Wu Clan to dominate alone.
To kill Taiyi and Di Jun now would certainly provide the Six Saints with a pretext for condemnation!
Since the Wu Clan could slaughter all races at will, then so too could the Saints annihilate the Wu Clan!
…
Di Cang shook his head inwardly.
In a place like the Great Desolation, if you wielded great resources but had not achieved the realm of the Saints, the only way to survive was to be in the right.
For at its core, this world was one of the survival of the fittest.
If you had resources but did not act with reason, the blame lay with you—you would deserve your fate.
Therefore:
“The first option is not viable!”
“In that case,” Di Cang mused, “faced with the Ninefold Heavens, with Di Jun and Taiyi, there is only the second option left.”
With this conclusion, Di Cang, who had scarcely spoken since meeting Fuxi and Nuwa, suddenly stepped forward, faced the gathered Progenitor Witches, and respectfully said, “Junior Di Cang pays his respects to the Progenitor Witches, and to the elders Fuxi and Nuwa!”
“Oh?” Seeing Di Cang step forth, Di Jiang smiled. “Are you here about Di Jun and Taiyi of the Ninefold Heavens?”
“No need to worry!” Di Jiang was unconcerned. “In this vast world, whom have we twelve Progenitor Witches ever feared? Even if they seek conflict, we shall not shrink from it!”
“Besides,” Di Jiang added with a smile, “this is but a small matter. It is unlikely to escalate to a life-and-death struggle.”
“Indeed!” The twelve Progenitor Witches, Fuxi, and Nuwa all nodded.
They all agreed it was a trivial matter, one that only required vigilance to avoid mishap.
