Wang Yan hurriedly called over the other attendants to carefully pack the clothes she had selected for Yan Luoluo. She personally served the finest pastries from the shop, attending to this distinguished guest with utmost courtesy.

Yan Luoluo, however, seemed indifferent to Wang Yan’s attentiveness.

She casually settled onto the sofa, sipping her tea while chatting leisurely with her girlfriends nearby.

Wang Jiye stood cautiously by, closely observing every expression on Yan Luoluo’s face, fearful that any misstep might displease this little financial prodigy.

“Miss Yan, what style of clothes do your brothers prefer? Our store has the latest casual wear as well as suits suitable for formal occasions. Please take a look…” Wang Jiye introduced while watching Yan Luoluo’s reaction.

Yan Luoluo smiled lightly and waved her hand. “You decide.”

She then turned to her girlfriends. “Help me pick out a few pieces.”

Her friends nodded and began browsing the store.

Seeing this, Wang Yan hurried to join them, introducing items and assisting with the selection.

At that moment, Yan Luoluo’s phone rang.

“Luoluo, out shopping again?” Yan’s mother’s tone was laced with disappointment. “Your father’s latest deal fell through and he’s looking for new clients. And you? All you do is shop, never thinking about easing the family’s burden!”

Yan Luoluo’s expression darkened slightly at her mother’s words.

“Mom, I’m helping my brother pick clothes. This is for the family’s benefit too. If he dresses well, he’ll have a better image when negotiating business.”

Her mother sighed. “You’re such a child…”

“As for the business, why not ask Brother Chenxiao?” Yan Luoluo said lightly. “Considering the engagement between our families, he should give us some face, right?”

The engagement between the Gu and Yan families was a business alliance arranged years ago by their mothers in a playful moment. Yan’s mother had mentioned it jokingly to tease Yan Luoluo about her rebelliousness and the possibility she might never marry, but Yan Luoluo had taken it seriously and held it to heart.

“You and your wild talk,” her mother said helplessly. “You know how cold and ruthless the Gu family is! Besides, it was just a joke because of the good relations between the families. You actually took it seriously!”

But the only ones who took it seriously were Yan Luoluo and two others.

Wang Jiye and Wang Yan were stunned.

Engaged to “Brother Chenxiao”?

And this Miss Yan was none other than the future Madam Gu?

That explained everything.

The Gu and Yan families’ alliance was a business marriage. So why was the Gu heir protecting another woman?

Because the Gu heir considered the marriage nominal, so he kept a mistress.

That made sense.

Wang Jiye and Wang Yan exchanged glances, secretly relieved they had shown no disrespect to Yan Luoluo earlier.

They knew that offending the future Madam Gu could have dire consequences.

“Um, Madam… we accidentally offended Young Master Gu earlier. If you go home tonight, could you please help smooth things over…” Wang Yan began.

“What did you say?” Yan Luoluo frowned, puzzled. “Madam?”

“Yes, aren’t you the Young Madam Gu, wife of Gu Chenxiao?” Wang Yan emphasized.

This Young Madam was extremely low-profile. Knowing the shopping mall belonged to her husband, she deliberately distanced herself to avoid the appearance of clinging to him.

Yan Luoluo paused, about to instinctively deny it.

“Oh my god, Luoluo, you’ve been quietly pulling off big things! When did you win over Young Master Gu?”

“This big news, why didn’t you tell us?” her girlfriends clamored, eyes full of envy.

Yan Luoluo found herself in a tricky spot.

But thinking about it, it was for the best. She had always liked Gu Chenxiao. Regardless of how the misunderstanding came about, she could use this identity to do what she wanted.

Moreover, she had been in love with Gu Chenxiao for years and had long wished to marry him.

“I…” Yan Luoluo smiled. “I’m just low-key, as you know.”

She felt secretly proud. Though Gu Chenxiao was known to be cold and ruthless, she believed she had enough charm to move him.

She decided to use this misunderstanding to gain more chances to get close to him.

Feigning mystery, she smiled, then turned to Wang Jiye. “Manager Wang, I’ll take all those clothes you mentioned. Also, please have them delivered to Young Master Gu’s villa.”

Hearing this, Wang Jiye was overjoyed. This was a major order!

Yan Luoluo finished shopping and hurried home to tell her mother about the matter.

“Mom! Big news!”

Yan’s mother was making desserts for Yan’s father. “What is it?”

Excitedly, Yan Luoluo said, “I went to the mall today and was mistaken for being Brother Chenxiao’s wife!”

Her mother almost dropped the tart in surprise.

“You’re such a handful! Aren’t you afraid Young Master Gu will find out? You’ll be in big trouble!”

“Come on, Mom, don’t you find it strange why they’d mistake me for Brother Chenxiao’s wife?”

Her mother pondered. “Could it be…”

Yan Luoluo smiled smugly. “Mom, Chenxiao must like me, so he purposely let the rumor spread.”

Though her mother found her daughter’s idea naive, she could not deny there was some truth behind the events.

Could it really be…

“Mom, I think I’ll keep going with this. If we can connect with the capital’s heir, the Yan family’s future business won’t have to worry!”

Her mother looked at her daughter’s expectant eyes, feeling a mix of emotions, but finally nodded.

Yan Chu returned to the Gu residence, carrying bags full of items with Gu Chenxiao. The scene attracted much attention.

Gu Rong was complaining tearfully to the matriarch when she saw Yan Chu’s triumphant expression, instantly furious.

“Oh, so you’ve just married in and already bought this many things?” Gu Rong frowned, eyeing the logos on the bags. “And all designer brands?”

“Chenxiao, what kind of spendthrift did you marry? She spends so much!” Gu Rong was extremely displeased.

Gu Chenxiao glanced at Gu Rong calmly. “I gave these to her. So what?”

Gu Rong was stunned, then sneered. “Gave? So generous?”

“Enough,” the matriarch interjected, frowning slightly as she looked at the bags in Yan Chu’s hands. “Xiao Chu is now the Young Madam Gu. Does she need to ask your permission to shop?”

“Mom!” Gu Rong protested. “Don’t forget who caused Shuyi to be hospitalized!”
